I Discovered The Ndsm After 50 Odd Trips To Amsterdam And This Is What I Saw

I was a traveling consultant to Amsterdam for over 5 years and fell in love with it through 50+ visits to this brilliant and progressive city. As a photographer, I often took my camera with me and explored Amsterdam in depth. The NDSM was one area I hadn’t really ventured out to even though I knew of it from my Dutch friends. But to experience it first hand, as an outsider is something else, which I had the chance to do with a local photographer who knows the history and ins and outs of this place really well. The NDSM is an innovative social experiment bringing together the creative and entrepreneurial communities of Amsterdam to transform this defunct shipyard into a vibrant cultural hub. Shipping containers converted into colorful, modular, and super cheap student housing for emerging artists. Yes, it’s basic and a metal box but one can’t beat the price for being in the heart of Amsterdam.
