I'm quite convinced that the vast majority of people who are super hung up about this frankenstein/dr Frankenstein thing have not read the book themselves. I've always wondered but never had the chance to ask if Native Americans like the word "indian" to describe themselves or if they prefer a different word. I would prefer they used a different word. My people come from the Indus valley, the word Indian makes sense. We call native Americans Indians because some explorers a few hundred years ago were confused about where they were (at least that's my understanding). There must be a better word to use for describing people who lived on this land before the USA was a country. -- Google tells me the preferred terms are "Native American" or "indigenous".
