Today Is The First Official Day Of My Vacation. I Barely Made It 4 Hours Before Some Trouser Stain Texted Me For Help, And Wouldn't Take "No" For An Answer
My boss pulled a “I need you in here today” while I was on vacation. I said ok give me the travel persons number so they can book me a last- minute round-trip flight and rental car because I’m 1500 miles away right now. He hung up and called the help desk like I told him to before I left. He’d locked his user account out.

Just Found Im The Single Lowest Paid Paramedic At My Ambulance Company, Despite Having The Most Experience By Several Years
I mean dont some places grandfather you, especially places like this? Like if Nancy has done a great job working with THIS company 10 years longer than you...the company should show appreciation to Nancys commitment that reflects in her pay. If not, dont you think Nancy with all her experience gained working here would just quit and move to the next place for a higher pay like you did? Thats how you retain employees, isnt it?
My Boss Thinks I Should Skip Seeing My Probation Officer And Go To Jail So He Can Have A Day Off. Cause My Labor Is More Important Than My Freedom. This Happened Like 20 Minutes Ago Lmaooo
And then he had to tell his PO he does not have a job. I wonder how that worked out?
I Was Fired After Sending This Email To My Boss About Labor Violations
The Last Text I Sent My Boss
I was escorted out the next afternoon, hours after securing the million-dollar sale for the fiscal year. I was told the measures were temporary but they never are (but they managed to install security cameras in the year since).
I operated the store with 153 payroll hours, and this final reduction took it down to 118. This is CosmoProf, a multi-million dollar beauty company.
My boss got a little miffed when I asked him when Corporate would stop 'burning the furniture' over a bad market decision they made on buying a subsidiary. They cut everyone's hours, half the staff quit. I am drawing Social Security, and the only reason I got this job was because of Musk and the 'Orange God's' proclamation that the Affordable Care Act was 'waste, fraud and a***e'.
How institutionalised do we have to be to not realise the actual issue here? Too many rich people equals masses of poor people. Entire countries in fact. Country upon country. Considering this. Would anybody like any toast?

I Quit The Day Before A Snow Day
I was going to fulfill my notice, but the ad for my job had it listed for 2 dollars an hour more than I make, so I walked out.
Two people permanently injured themselves last year coming in on icy days, while the owners sit at home cozy.

Right best you do !! I wouldn’t be going in after that either ! in fact back in 2000 I had to have my beloved ex race horse put down he was 21 and had broken his foot playing silly beggars with my others in the field, (he was the great great great grandson of red rum ) I didn’t work for 6 weeks, couldn’t get on my other rideable horse either it broke me and work was brilliant ,rescue center , and my vet even checked in on me daily’ as he was worried about me so any boss as refuses just one shift off needs to get stuffed !!

I can almost guarantee that employee is ex-military. "Sorry, it's my day off, and I've already started drinking" is straight out of the Enlisted Playbook. :-)
This Is How My Coworker Handled This Text From My Boss
Update and context: This line cook had already previously put in his two-week notice due to moving out of state to take care of sick family and was days away from leaving anyway. Yes, he hit send and actually quit. Yes, he is leaving the industry. This isn't our chef he is texting. It's the owner.

I Lost My Job Of 3 Years Because Of This
Having A Fever And Feeling Unfit To Make It In. “Boss” Responded With This. What Do I Even Say In This Case?
I was feeling fine at work today, but as I drove home, I rapidly started sweating and having a throbbing headache, so I took a test. I sent this picture, letting him know I could not make it tomorrow. For context, the reason for the "bad timing" statement is the fact that he texted me off work hours just before I took this test and when I was already feeling unwell. Is it unreasonable of me to excuse myself so I can care for my health? I don’t feel he respects my personal needs or simply does not have the awareness, but I also honestly don’t want to let the team down if possible. I did inform both a general manager and a second-hand manager, who were both understanding.
Ya know, I'd prefer not to have people leaking germs on me because their boss is an A-hole.

No Water For Children. I Quit Today
The Picture Was Taken Last Night In The Kitchen Of The Restaurant I Work At. The Temperature Inside Was 86 Degrees. This Has Been Going On For Weeks
The hood vents have not been working properly, and it’s been dreadfully hot. The cooks are constantly sweating and miserable, one even filed a complaint with OSHA because they were tired of working in that condition. They were confronted by the owner. Servers and bartenders were raising concerns in the work group chat last night about their asthma and how customers in the front of the house can smell the smoke. Rather than assuring and being helpful to employees, the manager shut down the conversation and stated that if anyone had an issue, they could speak to them and the owner privately. They stated that they were probably affected by the storm yesterday (this has been happening for weeks) and should be fixed today. I’m pretty sure they’re under the pressure of OSHA’s grace period.
The horrific reality of the system as it is. If only we could all have the solidarity to just stop...
Why Is Working While You’re Sick A Badge Of Honor? It’s Dumb
Yeah, when my folks are sick, I tell them they don't get bonus points for sharing their germs and send them home.
Boss Texts Like A Clingy Partner On My Days Off
If youre not paid for contact outside of work...dont make contact. You dont get paid when youre not there- you dont work there when youre not paid either. As a manager myself, I know your days off, I approved them- I know i need to get those notes from you by the end of your shift and will...thats why im the manager
My Dad Had A Stroke And I Took My Vacation At Work To Help Care For Him. He's Not Doing Too Good, And My So And I Are Moving To Help Him And My Step Mom, And I Had To Give A 1 Week Notice (Not Ideal, But Better Than None Imo). Got This Text From The Owner Of The Store
This Is The Thermostat In The Office. I Told My Boss That If I’m Going To Work In A Sauna I Do It In The Nude
This was my library a couple of weeks ago. Half the HVAC went out and the other half was working overtime trying to compensate. My office was 62 degrees (16.67 C). My director's office was 87 (30.5 C). Staff kept wandering around to either thaw out or cool off.
Boss Wrote “Thief” On My Check
context: Filed a wage theft report against my former employer, was told he only paid 80% of what was owned, but I sucked it up. When I picked up the check at the Department of Labor, it had "THIEF" boldly written on the subject line. Super awkward, unfair, and embarrassing, especially with others witnessing it. Is there anything that can be done?
My Wife’s Salary Is Made Out Of Commissions And Instead Of Getting Cash Payment For A Product She Sold Her Company Gave Her Hkd 6k ($766) In Vouchers To Spend In A “Japanese” Supermarket
My wife's salary is made out of commissions and instead of getting cash payment for a product she sold, her company gave her 6k Hong Kong dollars ($766) in vouchers to spend in a "Japanese supermarket".
This supermarket isn't even located in our area and we will have to carry the groceries from far away by public transport or cab.
P.S. In Hong Kong, we don’t drive like most locals.
Text I Received From My Boss While Sick In Bed
If the person calling in has already asked someone to cover for them, great! Otherwise, it's the managers job to fill it, not the employee. That's what management does. I don't like management. Either the customers have a problem or the employees. I do understand but it's very tiring. When you are the manager, all problems roll downhill to you. yuck. I kept a bag of emergency joints behind the dumpster for my employees to take a chill break lol.
Boss Tries To Make Me Pay For My Mistake Which Is Illegal In NY, When I Express I Won't Pay For A One Time Mistake, He Doubles Down And Says This;
To be fair, it was a to-go order that I just blanked on and forgot to make sure it was paid before I handed it out. Regardless, it's illegal to try and make me pay for it in my state. I tried to give him the opportunity to correct his reaction, and he doubled down. He even said that breaking the law is a common practice
I made a huge, fairly costly mistake last year at my new job. I asked them to take it out of my paycheck but my supervisors refused, saying that it wasn't anything that couldn't be fixed. I was the one who identified that I had made a mistake and they said they appreciated my honesty. We talked about how to fix it and what could be done differently next time to avoid such an error. I'm VERY lucky to have such a supportive team.
I Work In NY
I Asked For A Raise On Tuesday And Received This Text Message Yesterday Morning…
I once had "the only thing missing for your contract renewal is the boss's signature, he'll be back in office tomorrow" change to "can you come to my office for a second? [...] your contract won't be renewed" within a day. I was young and dumb, nowadays I'd know to sue the bejeevus out of them as a contract by word of mouth is equal to a written one where I live and there were witnesses to what was said. Joke's on them anyways though, as that made me look for jobs again (obviously) and made me get my dream job.
Boss Asked Me To Cover A Shift While I’m On Vacation
My Toxic Ex-Boss Texted Me
This is absolutely wild... I have zero clue what she's talking about. She's the daughter of the owner and the general manager of a small company in my area. I used to work under her as a shift lead. I left for greener pastures about 8 months ago. I have no clue why tf she thought this was appropriate.
Does she employ female children? Referring to her female staff as “girls” is disgraceful.
Had A Personal Thing Come Up For Thursday And My Boss Is Just Ignoring My Time Off Request
Don't give them options you don't want them to take. If you offer to rearrange to a better date, you can bet they will prefer that.
Cassidy, Read That Again, But Slowly
This is a reasonable ask. And they’re just asking. There’s nothing wrong with this one. We don’t know what “availability” conflict is there.
I worked at a hospital in the emergency department for a few years. So my health went down hill amd ive so far have had 13 surgeries. I put in a time off request for a surgery I needed. It was approved. Well within days I ended up septic. I was terrified. I ended up with a life long colostomy bag. Anyways, I was in ICU for a week and hospital for a month. The kicker? I got fired for missing too many days!! They knew i was upstairs and admitted in for almost loosing my life. I got my unemployment but I took it a step further with legal 🤷♀️
My boss would never dream of doing that, because it is HIGHLY illegal in civilised society, and he would be socially excoriated for it.
