kind of a weird title sorry. but basically i’ve been disassociating and i keep on day dreaming. like, excessively. it’s starting to worry me. i keep having to touch stuff to ground myself. i took the dissociative experiences test and got a 29. obviously, i know you guys can’t diagnose me or anything, but i can’t go to a psychiatrist right now. so yeah. not trying to self diagnose but i just wanted to know if these are signs or something.

A lot of daydreaming that's disturbing day-to-day functions and concentration etc. sounds like maladaptive daydreaming - I struggle with that as well. Usually that's not a condition on it's own, it's a symptom of another - most likely anxiety, sometimes depression, sometimes autism or OCD or the like, it really depends. Obviously I'm not diagnosing you here but I'd say - go see a therapist! And if you can't (like me), it helps trying to understand what your daydreams are giving you. An escape? Why do you need to escape - what problems are there in your life? Are there characters in your daydreams giving you validation? Sorta self-therapy yourself and dig deep into it all until you can get professional help. Try journalling or writing it up somewhere where no one else will see it :)

I'd say you probably are under a lot of stress or dealing with anxiety and it's starting to have physical affects on you.
Of course I can't diagnose you, but here's your reminder that we don't only need breaks and/or help if we have diagnosed "depression" or something. Mine was never diagnosed and I had every symptom under the sun.🤣 I just started treating it like it was depression and things got better after that.

Hang in there.

Nothing is wrong with you, but dissociation tends to be brought on by anxiety. I dissociate a lot and I have an (undiagnosed but pretty obvious, my therapist confirmed it and it runs in the family) anxiety disorder, you might have one or also might just be going through a really stressful period. Good luck!
