Hey Pandas, What’s The Weirdest Thing That’s Every Happened To You?

#1

In middle school and high school I was a member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). It was a student run organization led by a team of high schoolers. This group is called the State Officers. In short, they are practically celebrities.
My senior year of high school I had the opportunity to be one of eight to be a State Officer. I served my term and went to Nationals in the summer. I was no longer a State Officer but many still recognized me.
The hotel I stayed at was all members from my state, so I was constantly recognized. Most were civil, but I had one weird interaction.
I was walking back to my room after visiting my advisor's room (this was probably at midnight or so) and I stopped on a middle floor to change elevators (one of those that separated the floors because it was so tall). I step out and there was this group of students waiting for an elevator.
They all see me (there's probably a dozen here) and rush towards me, all screaming my name. I freeze, unsure what to do (fame wasn't my thing and freaked me out, even after the year of being a celebrity on this organization). One asked for my number, another asked for my autograph, and another looked at me dead in the face, and said with the straightest face ever "I love you." I was so stunned I couldn't speak. All the while there was another girl in the back shouting at her friends to leave me alone, I am just a human being and not a god.
I managed to untangle myself and get back to my room, and I was so shocked by that encounter I tried to keep a low profile for the rest of the week.
