Hey Pandas, What Quirk Do You Love About Your Pet? (Closed)
Share what you like about your pet, what little thing they do makes you happy.
It‘s not really a quirk, but what makes me very happy is that my cat is so talkative. Whenever I call his name, he answers as if he wants to say „yeah, what‘s up?“. He really comments on everything with a different kind of meow and I love it.
one of my cats always comes and lays on my arm when i have a nap on the couch.. if i don't have time to nape she kinda yells at me to lay down
My cat Raymond was deaf and blind. If you rubbed his belly he'd lick his left paw. Rip buddy
My cat loves to jump on our shoulders and snuggle against our necks, it's pretty adorable. Also, we throw balls for her, and she brings them back.
my sheltie spins exactly three times before i open the door. like little jump spins, it’s adorable :)
About two years ago i when i was about to fall asleep my dog reached out her paw and put it ontop of my hand, just for a few minutes and then she turned around and went to sleep. It happend the next day and the day after that. Now it's become our nightly rutine, Just for a few minutes we will hold paw and hand and it's just pure happiness.
I have a 17 month old male cat called Q. He’s a Maine C**n and does have a lot of their usual quirks. He’s heavily bonded to me and my daughter but completely ignores my fiancé and my son! He follows me round like a dog and if I go out, he will wander round the house calling for me until I get home. He’s followed me when I’ve walked to the shop and I’ve even got him harness trained. He’s almost like a dog in his behaviour and I adore him!!!!
I have a little terrier who lets out a contented snort like a pig after you scratch her or let her under the covers.
Also, she sticks her tongue out the side of her mouth when she's excited and wants more attention.
Love you, Millies!
My dog is very particular about his morning breakfast routine. He gets up quite early, so I always go back to bed once he’s fed and been outside. If I do something out of order or give him the wrong treat, he wakes me up again for a do-over.
One of my cats, Kona, will wait outside of the bathroom when you're taking a shower, then immediately jump into the tub when you are getting dry
Another post because I have two cats. My kitten Kihei is very needy and loves belly rubs. He'll somersault over and stretch as long as he can go. Then he just lays there until we pet him
I love how my dog thinks she’s big and that’s she’s a person. Teenie is SMOL but whenever there’s a dog that’s way bigger than her she’ll take them on!
One of my leopard geckos insists on being tucked in to a little blanket with her head poking out whenever we hold her.
I used to have a cat who kissed me on the lips by pressing his mouth on mine. RIP Mr Wuss.
I have a total water cat. When I cook or do dishes, she sits in the other sink and plays with the water. If I'm in the shower, she'll sit in the back. If in the tub, she sits by the faucet and bats at the water coming out. Drop an ice cube and she plays hockey with it. She's wired wrong! LOL!
My cat always comes in my room to sleep in the sunshine at around noon. He's so cute and he jumps onto my desk and snoozes until the evening. My horse also likes to rest his teeth on my shoulder. Its not biting he just puts his teeth there when he's stressed out, hes very antsy. Also, when I get on bareback, he knows that its dangerous and turns his head to thee side to make sure I got on safely.
When you pick my dog up she groans. She also sighs a lot. Moody little beggar but I love her
When I was a kid, I had an extreme fear of dogs. If I even saw a golden retriever walking down the street, I would scream and run. I begged my parents not to get a dog, but one day, they brought home Tumnus. He was quiet, calm, and friendly. It didn't take long for him to help me conquer my fears. He was with us for a very long time, until he died just a few months ago. Rest in peace, my friend.
My cat Rita, is pretty overweight (working on it, she just doesn’t move), and she either sits and tries to walk with her front legs while sitting, or she’s barreling after the annoying flies faster then I’ve seen any cat run. It’s gonna be a nice, insect free, summer
Not my pet but a neighbors pet. My neighbor has two pomeranians named Monster and Cinnabon. She takes them for walks around our apartment complex and while Cinnabon contently walks, tongue out panting, her sibling doesn't go anywhere without a toy in it's mouth. Monster will take a few steps, then whip his head around like his toy has suddenly some to life and he needs to shake it into submission. Another few steps...another shake. I once saw him and said "You show that squirrel who's boss." A few days later, I found dog toy that looked like a squirrel. When I gave it to him, his owner nearly fell over laughing.
My cat refuses to throw up on the bed. She goes and barfs on the carpet instead... She also is incredibly smart and will not sit on your head unless she is playful.
My cat plays fetch, one of my dogs will take food from his bowl (in the kitchen ) and places down wherever the family is to eat it. But if I we put his food with us he won’t eat 🤦🏻♀️. The other dog is a diva and refuses to jump a gate that she’s perfectly capable of doing ( she will jump it with no if she sees my son or something she wants to chase) she sits down and barks at me until I get up and open it for her lol
I have EDS and POTs so I fall and faint a lot. I have a devoted 100lbs good ball shepherd who lays on my chest when I’m down since I am bad at vertical
not necessarily a quirk, but at around 1:00 every afternoon, my cat jumps on to my bed and takes a nap. when I get home, he runs downstairs and lays at my feet so i can pet him.
My cat Baby BooBoo will not eat unless you tickle her food
My cat plays fetch and growls at the doorbell. We call him 'a dog in a cat suit.'
My friend also has a maine c**n named Cinderblock who like to greet people by putting his paws on their chest and 'kissing' their face.
My big 100 pound German Shepherd only does this when we're watching something scary, when I get scared, he comes up and lays on top of me and falls asleep. It makes everything less scary and its adorable
My other dog (a pug shih-tzu mix, she's tiny), when I ask her "wanna go downstairs and get some food?" (that exact sentence, nothing else, because i used to ask her that every morning before we go and get breakfast) she will launch herself off whatever she's sitting/laying on and bolt downstairs and howl next to the fridge until i get her something
my first cat (tabby) likes hiding under beds and waiting until someone walks by the bed and she'll launch out and bat at their ankles and grab them and she seems to find it funny if they fall over because they were surprised
my other cat (tortoiseshell) will come watch tv with us and she'll keep headbutting my little dog and my dog will sit there getting annoyed until my cat starts booping her nose and then she'll bark at her and my cat will jump on her
My cat, Thistle, is a year old, but she still mews like a kitten and it is adorable. She just had her first litter, and sometimes it’s hard to tell them apart.
My cat Loki is a little rolly-polly wriggler and however I pick him up he slithers and rolls himself over in my arms into a baby cuddle. Melts my heart!
My DOG acts like a cat he trues to jump everywhere and sleeps all day!
My silver cat, Kuura, does this thing I call 'hitching'. In the old flat I used to live in, she would do this in the kitchen doorway. She'd stand in the doorway, rest her left hip against the door frame and pick up the left hind leg so her paw was an inch or so off the ground. Then she'd stay there for a minute or so, staring into space, her paw just dangling. Then she'd move on, all perfectly normal.
We moved house early last year. Her new spot is the corner of the fridge. She does the same routine: rests her hip, lifts her paw, and stands still for a minute before walking off. Only those specific spots, and always the same paw raised.
My other cat Nipsy LOVES to be long its hilarious. She finds a wall and lays down with her belly to the wall and streeeeetches until she cant stretch any further... perfect pose for belly rubs.
My German Shepherd -Saban Von Helsing- goes off watching Alabama football when the announcer's mention the coach (Nick Saban) a few dozen times per game. He's like, "What?! Who IS that and what do you want?!"
I have a Labrador-Beagle, Her name is Maisie. It's so funny when she chases my ankle. She just goes crazy about it 🤣
My dwarf hamster is rather...large. He has a cage with a tube going around the outside, and when he gets hot in his bed, he goes to sleep in his tube and tucks his head in and flattens himself against the bottom of his tube, so his fluff goes through the breathing holes at the bottom, and it looks like he's melted, it just makes me so happy 🥰
My cats are my overlords. They tell me what to do and when.
Had a cat who got me through high school. Paws would be my heater at night and get me out the door. I would always fall asleep after the alarm, so she would meow and walk on me till I woke up. Walk between me and the door till I got up, then the door to the bathroom. Supervised my shower. Made sure I brushed my teeth and grabbed my lunch. Then got me out the door to catch the bus. Miss you baby girl.
One of my current kitties, Renji never lets me forget a meal time. He starts with purring and rubbing his face on my face, then withholds affection. Moves to sit behind me on the back of the couch and when he is really tired of waiting he whacks me in the face with his tail till I get up. He is also a white noise machine, loud purring pressed against my ear all night.
Our cat sleeps in my arms every night. I I roll over, he butts his spine up against my back.
My dog loves to nibble my fingers and can do this for an hour. She's doing it very carefully and is always watching me while she's nibbling to see if I'm still comfortable. When she's a little bit rough and hurts me, she stops nibbling immediately and licks my fingers instead.
My cat Hiccup comes into the bathroom every morning while I am getting ready for work. She will sit on the toilet and stare at me, then she will lift a paw and knock my toilet paper roll onto the bathroom floor. She does it to get me to come over and give her some loving and kisses!
I have three cats. One, Abbie, will lick her right paw and wash her face when we scratch her back just right. So cute.
Sophie is such a gentle soul and so seldom meows, it comes out sounding like a little high pitched chirp.
Gracie meows at me all the time, very talkative. Sometimes I try to mimic her sounds, and this goes on for several minutes. She changes her meows and even pauses, just like a real conversation.
Both Sophie and Gracie, sisters, sleep with me every night, one under each arm. They have to be squished up against me, and if I get up in the night, both will reposition so they're back up next to me. If my husband and I stay up late on weekends or his vacation, Gracie will finally just beg us to go to sleep.
Gracie is the bold sister and when she's asking me for something, Sophie shows up and just sits quietly, waiting to see if Gracie gets anything, so she can too.
I have toast every morning. I save the last bite for Gracie and she licks that bite of toast until it's mushy. Every single day. If she's really upset about something, she cries real tears. They run down her face. I've had cats for over 36 years, and I've never seen anything like this. Breaks my heart. If I scold her, she comes right away to say she's sorry. So smart.
Life just wouldn't be the same without them. Every day is an adventure, and I love them beyond words.
My cat Bun Bun, is our Structural engineer. She "marks" sure everything is sturdy and safe.
Little, scruffy mongrel Poochie goes & shakes a toy with his mouth when he grets frustrated. We call it his "coping mechanism".
even if we accidently let him outside, (he is an indoor cat)
he wont run away into the road, he will go to the backyard and eat grass
My cat doesn't like hiding in boxes.... She tears them apart!!
Also, she is quite smart. She gets fed by one person, finishes her bowl and then goes to a different person in the house acting exactly as if she wasn't fed yet. So, she would sometimes trick us into giving her extra food.......
If you can't tell already, she used to be a stray cat XD
Our new rescue cat has such varied little sounds. She squeaks, chirps and trills, trying to communicate with her daft humans. We are slowly trying to learn her language...she is patient, knowing that we are actually slow, large kittens.
My cat sits next to her barf for a bit if nobody has seen it to let us know where it is.
Link my 18 month old Corgi likes to lay across my chest in the morning to prevent me from getting up.
Quinn my 3 year old Great Dane likes to put her head in my lap to get rubs. She sometimes fall asleep like that and slips off.
My middle child Batty Boop (and by child I mean cat) loves crop dusting us...
Also when she meows, it's not really a meow. Picture those gangsters from the old Bugs Bunny cartoons going "Meehhh". That's what she sounds like.
Whenever we touch his nose, he flicks his paws. It's so weird, but when he's laying down, I just go boop him and he does a little one-two punch!
My dog does what is called a sploot.
My cat Pennywise.is obsessed with socks. You put them on, she attempts to take them off. If she get it's off, she hides it, them comes back for the other one.
When she headbumps me every time I go to bed.
One of my cats loves to play fetch with beer caps and hair ties
My cat wags her short tail like a dog. Super cute!
My pony runs up to me sometimes.
My dog knows how to use a pillow. And if you don’t give him one he will sneeze on you until you key him sit next to you with the pillow. He will put his head on it :/
If I even glance at my dog, his tail starts thumping every time. He literally prances when coming to the door even if I was gone 20 minutes. He also brings me a milkbone on occasion. My heart overflows...
My basset hound steps on her ears when she runs (she’s fine). It’s so cute!
My American bully won’t poop in front of people or on a leash . Makes me sit out in my backyard and just enjoy my morning coffee while she does her business behind a tree
My cat has a cute little meow with a trill at the end, it sounds like she has a French accent
My cat always scoops one pellet at a time out the bowl onto the placemat to eat it.
My dog's quirk is wind
Ok, so my dog, a King Charles Caviler (my profile pic) likes doing a thing i call necking. If he knows you and he is happy to see you he will run up to you, make you get on the ground (somehow he does this only weighing 18 pounds) and will just rub his neck on your face! he'll also make a sound that sorta sounds like a creaky door. It's SO cute. I love Rocket.
My cat, named Suma, talks with everyone, mostly with the tv. And if she sees something that looks like a cat she’ll meow/scream at it.
My cat will put herself in time out after getting in trouble. she stares at the wall too
My dog is afraid of anything shiny: food bowls, nail clippers, etc.
One of my dogs grunts when she wants attention, needs to go out, is hungry.... anything.
Beach time... My mini Aussie does zoomies back and forth across the sand, she dashes in and out of the water, picks up shells on her mouth and relocates them, digs holes in the sand, and when it’s time to go... she audibly “complains” and throws a little puppy temper tantrum.
Hibou my dog sneezes every time he is happy! We're going on a walk? Sneezes sneezes sneezes 😍
When one of my cats gets told off she has a go back
like a moody teenager asked to tidy their room lol
My guinea pig Zeppelin was a kisser. He would lick your face incessantly, just to show affection. He knew when you were sad and would lick your face and snuggle your neck. Fly High sweet boy. Momma misses you.
My cat likes to spoon with me in bed after he has a little breakfast. Purr therapy & snuggles!
A few. My senior rescue, Beau, must MUST sleep with AT LEAST two feet touching me, and gets so close he is almost under me. Second, my Pom Ruprecht secretly hides all uneaten dried tendons UNDER me while I sleep. I never notice until the next morning.
My dachshund is extremely smart, like if your gonna go somewhere and if you start putting shoes on he knows and will start freaking out cause he wants to go! He also knows which room is mine and which is my parents, and he is a spoiled bean and I love him.
We have a magnificent 14 year old little meow named Mia. One night, she snuggled right in between my wife and I in bed, and now it’s where she snoozes for the night. She even has her own tiny pillow she rests her head on because she literally sleeps like a person in between us ❤️. Her back always needs to be against my back. It helps me fall asleep.
My cat will play fetch with me and put the toy in my hand
