it doesn't matter if it's winning a competition, or getting an A on an exam, or anything. if you think it's an achievement worth celebrating, it is an achievement worth celebrating.

I'm not going to go with the cliche "I raised my kid".
My biggest achievement has been graduating High School. Like, actually going to classes, doing the exams, getting the credits and getting my Grade 12 diploma.
Yeah, I had kid young, but that never stopped me from finishing school. When homeschooling didn't work I went to a school set up for young moms. I got some credits but didn't pass the mandatory classes, math and English, and I was still a bit short on credits. (This was all in grade 12, btw). Math was always my worst subject being dyscalculic, and I struggled with Grade 12 English because I have a different way of thinking about literature than what the teacher has in mind.
My daughter outgrew the young moms school daycare, because they only accept babies under 2.
A couple years later, I enrolled in correspondence for math. It took another year and a half to get through it, but I did it and passed.
With English I found I needed a structured classroom.
I wasn't a single mom, btw. I was with my kid's dad until she was about 8. Although he didn't stop me from getting an education, he made it hard, refused to watch our daughter on a regular basis, and wanted me to work with her in daycare, but in order to be able to apply for subsidy I would have to be working or looking for work, or on income assistance, in which I wasn't going to do because he worked.
A few years later we split, I got laid off at a job demanding on call reliability all the time. I worked a few other odd jobs but they weren't accommodating for a single mom.
It wasn't even something I planned. Something just clicked in my head to go back to school because I wasn't getting anywhere without completing High School.
So, that's what I did. I found I only need half a credit. I took Fine Arts and English and graduated the following summer.
Best decision I made and I showed my daughter to never give up.
I know it's probably so mundane to a lot of people. Some may even say I made some stupid life decisions. Don't we all. The stupidest life decision is giving up and not trying, and just going through life beating yourself up over things that have happened that you can't change.
i got this certificate that says i passed the national piano auditions and now am a part of the "Piano Hobbyists of the World". i was 12 yo and all i did was play beginner songs as i'm still a beginner and started at 10. but still, on the bottom left it says "american college of musicians". if anyone can explain to me it will be much appreciated lol

I help brain injury and concussion survivors full time. I never thought I’d be healthy enough to help others but being able to prevent others from making the same mistakes I made in my recovery is truly uplifting. Creating awareness about the invisible aspects is also an incredible feeling.
Having good grades in Y9 to Y11. I had to do my homework with my grandad at my parents’ house. He was a bit deaf and would play the tv very loud to the point that concentrating was hard.
Then at weekends I used to stay at his house and there was no desk for me so I would have to do my homework sitting on his bed, trying to block the tv out.
Winning three student of the month awards and winning an award for perseverance when I graduated from grade 8. Also I faced my fear of Ferris wheels and I went on one and it was really awesome and relaxing.
I’m an Army vet and I trained my own service dog
He’s awesome and makes me feel so much safer when I’m out and about.
