We should not Colonize Space. we're developing technology to get away from our problems rather than using the technology to fix the planet. It may look fancy and cool on renders, but colonizing space right now is a horrible idea.
I agree. It appears that NASA is aiming to send astronauts to Mars as early as the 2030s, although the timing can vary. The information is available on NASA's official website, particularly in a sentence above a video highlighting six technologies to get humans to Mars. If we have our sights towards Mars, it's likely that we'll aim for further expansion, driven by advancements in technology, if we reach that stage in our timeline. Meanwhile, the rest of the people on Earth have to deal with worsening conditions as our planet gradually becomes more unbearable. You know, don't get me wrong ,I understand the mere idea of going to Mars is exciting, but as you mentioned, we really need to focus on our planet first. Also here's that link to NASA's website: https://www.nasa.gov/humans-in-space/humans-to-mars/#:~:text=NASA%20is%20advancing%20many%20technologies,as%20early%20as%20the%202030s
Yes. This is was mention by Neil Degrassi Tyson. If we can fix another planet, we can fix this one.
Let's stop normalizing down voting posts just because it doesn't match your view. Down voting posts can severely ruin people's reputations, and can even cause them to be kicked off of bored panda. Just because someone made a mistake, or knows something you don't, doesn't mean that you get to down vote him off the site.
Except when they are actively engaging in harmful behavior towards a minority, disparaging someone, etc. Either then that, then yes, I agree with you.
The 10 downvote isn't a strike out anymore. I know where you're coming from, but we have to also hold the op accountable and allow them to respond or explain further. Not everyone is great at getting across their point, and context isn't always that apparent. There's been so many times I've been misunderstood on here, and other social medias, because people like to just skim through and focus on the keywords that caught their eye. Seriously. People have started arguments with me on the same stance I have. Then I have to explain, again, what I meant and tell them they're agreeing with me. But by then it looks like I'm backtracking my original comment. I think some people do that on purpose.
The comments sections on BP have gradually been getting much dumber and more negative. It used to be mostly witty jokes and tidbits of information, now it's full of petty squabbles and bigotry. Why are we getting into full-on arguments over grammar mistakes, accidental misinformation, etc? Or when someone gets ripped apart and downvoted into oblivion for asking a simple question.
The misinformation never bothers me. We should all be doing our own research and correct each other diplomatically without making someone feel stupid. Same with grammar, unless someone is being a jerk and they left a grammatical mistake for me to throw back at them in retaliation karma. I try to be very kind and understanding to everyone. Unfortunate it's not always reciprocated.
There is too much American stuff on BP. This is not American hate. I've learnt a lot about America since joining BP (the good and bad stuff). But it would be nice for more stuff about the rest of the world. We recently had a couple of articles about Australia which was good and at least one about Canada but there is a whole world out there we could be learning about. Considering this isn't an American site there is way to much American stuff on here.
I agree, This is a Lithuanian website, yet ive never seen anything related to Lithuania.
Im playing with fire saying this, but both US political parties (democrats, republicans) are in desperate need of...just help tbh. and both Trump, and Biden are terrible options for the next president. Trump is and angry, egotistical man, and not a great person,(however, he is not a literal terrorists). Biden is just not the brightest currently, and this mostly stems from the fact that hes just really old.
People think that politics is a line with a left and a right, but really, it's an 11th dimensional hyper torus with directions that you can't even fathom.
This is how I feel about politics and why picking sides is futile. They all suck. They're all corrupt. At least in Canada there's more than 3 parties to vote for. I always like picking the underdog that never gets a chance to win because.. well, you never know.
There was hope for the NDP but Singh has his head so fat Trudeau's orifice that he has set the party back 20 years.
Load More Replies...I agree, both presidents are worse at running the US than newborn babies.
Canadian here... I don't quite understand the American political system so can someone please explain to me how Trump, not only had a shot at being President but then actually became President? This is absolutely mind-blowing to me.
Right now its prob trump v Biden, trump I prob dont need to explain, but Biden is literally like 90
There is a lot of American hate on BP. Example: If there's a picture of something in America, why complain that it uses American units? It's what we're used to. Yes, metric makes more sense, but if it's in America, why not use what we're used to? (Let me specify that I do want America to start using metric but we just aren't there yet)
Right?? We get it, it's like a continuous dumpster fire. There's certainly room for improvement. As an American, I'm tired of the recurring criticism from BP users and posters directed at the U.S. It feels like it happens a few times every month. Just the other day, I read a comment from a BP user blaming Americans for not keeping germs to themselves. Like what..? I'm also in favor of adopting the metric system in the U.S.
I think now it would be to difficult for America to go metric. Even though the UK went metric in the 70's I grew up in the 80's and at school they would teach you metric at home your parents still used imperial and I grew up very confused. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Load More Replies...I don't believe in god. If god was real then he's an evil, narcissistic, violent, cruel bully. A supposedly all-powerful, all-knowing being who can create whatever it wants, created a world where the basic principle of survival is to kill other living things to survive. That's pretty sick. All that is bad in the world is either satan or human fault. All that is good is god. What-the-f**k-ever. If god is so powerful he can stop all that. Why make innocents suffer?
Rose used a maritime disaster as cover to kill Jack. Embarrassed as she was for copping off with a bit of lower class rough.
Barman is a sociopathic thug and arguably the biggest criminal in Gotham City.
Batman is a bored rich dude that could probably help a lot more people by using his wealth and technology than parading around dressed like a bat.
Margarine has a bad reputation for merely it's existence being a solid vegetable oil. Why? No one bashes liquid vegetable oil. In my opinion it's not that bad when used with other foods. Butter is good, too, don't get me wrong on that. But butter is so much more expensive and is hard to spread when cold. Whereas margarine is ready from the fridge to spread on your bread without tearing it apart. I'm not sure how much healthier or unhealthier either butter nor margarine is. I highly doubt either is more healthier than the other.
You make a good point. I feel like butter is closer to its source than margarine and therefore healthier. It also makes a difference in baking but that's not the point. Maybe someone knows the science behind all this and will explain it to us.
That the USA isn't bad. All I hear from people is "USA sucks, USA is the worst developed(?) country in the world, yes it has its problems but if people were to focus on Spain, or other countries and point out every downside it would look like how people view the USA.
USA isn't bad, but we do need to work on some of our foreign policy, some of it is just plain disrespectful to other country's.
Some people complain about the US to distract themselves from the fact that their countries are slowly working their way down to our level tbh
There is too much music played mindlessly in the world. Every store, every restaurant, even apartment lobbies, and restaurants with empty outdoor seating in the winter still blasting music in the street. It’s okay for a place to be quiet for a little while. I don’t need f*cking Taylor Swift to keep me company in the lobby of a residential apartment building. And why are most coffee shops now playing music at nightclub volumes?! My wife and I used to sit quietly and the do crossword in local coffee shops, but now we have to raise our voices to be heard over everyone else raising their voices over the music. Let’s all just sit quietly or speak with our inside voices for a while, okay?
I think that the "sigma male" thing on tiktok is insanely misogynist and rude. They think they can control women and everything that they do.
Yeah I don’t think that this is an unpopular opinion, I think many people feel the same way :/ we got a kid in our school that insists everyone calls him “alpha,” nobody’s friends with him lmao
i hate vtubers. no matter how many times i put "not interested" on their youtube videos i still see them in my recommended. theyre so f*****g annoying
Mmm idk a lot of the vtubers I’ve seen clips of are pretty funny and just having a good time. I mean if I could get money for just joking around and playing games in front of a camera, I would definitely do that, too. Ofc with any group there’s always bad/annoying ones but the ones I’ve seen are chill :P
The one vtuber I know of I know through someone(not a vtuber) else's channel. She shows up several times in his videos, and the only reason I know she's a vtuber is through looking her up. Also, my sister watches one, but I don't.
We're supposed to stop appreciating actors, singers, comedians, etc. for the terrible things they did. Appreciating their works and talents does not condone their actions and one should not be shamed for doing so.
Twilight is a good love story. Executed poorly in the movie’s though.
It's an okay love story, but it's also a teen romance, it doesn't need to be good for people to like it.
I am a Christian. An old-fashioned Baptist. I don't think more explanation is needed.
Unpopular for the majority of population, that is. Jesus, god, bible, the entire christian faith.
As an ex Christian this is just a lie if your saying what I think you are. Christianity has majorly f****d up my life and I still have plenty of Christian friends. We should stop with the stupid "Christians are hated" thing, because it's not only untrue, but Christians hate so much they are stripping away my rights, to the point where I have attempted suicide because of how much the religion has f****d me over
Yeah Christians seem to have a major persecution complex. Even to the point that they think they are being persecuted when they aren't allowed to persecute others.
Load More Replies...This is a very broad statement. Many a good deed has been done in the name of faith. The opposite of which may be of the minority, but the atrociousness sadly obscures the good.
Im Jewish so I may not understand, but It sounds like you want to be oppressed even for millennia thats exactly what Christianity has done
I dont understand, isnt Christianity literally the most popular religion by population?
Unpopular opinion: lay off the “influencers”. Most of them did nothing wrong. Sure, some of them are terrible people, but those people appear in every group, and don’t represent the entire group.
