Distract myself. Go on my phone, try to think about something else, talk to myself, watch tv, read, draw, watch YouTube. Take a few deep breaths in and out as well. Maybe drink some water to calm myself down too.

Complete shutdown. Curl up into a ball, panic, and eventually someone notices and sends me to calm down.

I do not have coping mechanisms.

I'm sorry you have to go through that, I don't have any coping mechanisms either

I usually do this in private, but when my anxiety spikes, I have a little squshmallo, about 6 inches from nose to tail, that I use almost like a stress ball. It gives me something to do with my hands and calms me because I have a stuffy. I'm still a child at heart so maybe that's why it works.

I close my eyes, take a deep cleansing breath and count to ten. If I’m working or driving, I take a deep breath and focus exactly on what I am doing. Your brain literally cannot do two things at once. I focus on the road ahead or whatever is in my line of sight.
