I worked for an east coast company in a west coast office. I was classified as an exempt employee. The order from my remote lack of a manager so I was on call 24/7 and had to carry a beeper. I asked some of the hourly guys for the time sheet charge codes. I filled out the weekly timesheet and highlighted in yellow the beeper hours. My lack of a manager blindly signed the time sheets. Well, a huge and foul smell arose to the extent that the Vp of Finance called me. We had a pleasant 30-minute conversation. The upshot was I had to correct the time sheet. Being exempt was no big deal for me. We both agreed that my lack of a manager was a superb idiot. I found out that VP hated the office coffee but liked the Java from downstairs. I would bring a cup to the VP on every visit to headquarters.
