Sigourney Weaver.

While Pam Grier is probably the true OG of women action stars (See the 1974 film Foxy Brown), her character was still largely "female". Whereas Sigourney's portrayal of Ripley in Alien was completely devoid of any of gender stereotypes or archetypes. Her performance was so epic that nobody really paid attention to whether it was a man or a woman, we just watched this badass try to survive an impossible situation and rooted for them.
