    VERY common in the U.S. He represents the SPIRIT of Christmas, so placing him in adoration/worship of the infant Christ is deliberately meant to reassert the primacy of the religious occasion over the cultural event. (But yeah, sometimes it's just a way to put all of the ornaments relating to each other.)

    Yay! I made my husband a Randy Marsh ornament, it's probably one of my favorite things I've ever made. I took a still of his face from the creme fraiche episode and painted it on a large ornament complete with foam mustache.
