I want to talk to a therapist, i think i have depretion and want help but my parents are the type of people who think they can fix everything

I was in a similar boat when I was younger. My parents thought all they had to do to ‘fix’ my mental illnesses was go run around and stare at a tree. I probably won’t be much help as what I did was not what you should do. Here are somethings you should try if you haven’t. Tell a teacher at school/school counsellor that you feel like you need more help than what your parents can offer. Talk to them one-on-one, as that can help your parents to understand and pay attention better than if they were both present. Mention things that are happening to you such as dropping grades, insomnia etc, and tell them something like ‘I know you want to fix this yourself, but this is not something that can get better with only your support.’. Ask them if they have any worried about seeing a professional, such as cost, time schedule etc. Ring or text helplines - they sometimes provide longer term counselling if all other choices fail. I hope this helped. Please don’t be afraid to reach out for help, including me in the comments. Thank you and stay strong.
