Late '70-'71 (I was 16), I was working the am shift @ my mother's restaurant, Town & Country, in Bettendorf, IA. There had been a snowstorm the night before so roads were treacherous. As a result, we were "slow." I was preparing a table while looking out the picture window & saw a lone figure, all bundled up against the elements, walking towards our restaurant. I got an electrical feeling in my heart chakra & knew he/she would be coming in & what I was to do. The bundle arrived & the hostess seated them, according to my request. He was 20-21, white, soft brown eyes & long, wavy black-brown hair. All he ordered was coffee & buttered toast. Soft voice. I gave him the ticket. I told the kitchen to fix me: 2 over-medium eggs, order of bacon, order of home fries & bacon grits (Yes, my mother introduced grits to Bettendorf, IA!), order of pancakes, orange & tomato juices, & buttered toast! When I presented the feast to him he panicked but I let him know it was ALL on me! HE ATE ALL OF IT! He was only charged for the coffee & toast, & left.

I've often wondered who he was & where he was going, if he made it & how he did in life.

Can anyone share something similar that they did or experienced?

I used to work with a guy that lived near my. Our job was an hour drive away though, so I would drive him. He was the kind of person that would be out of money by the end of the week, so I would often loan him some money to help him get by until payday. He always paid me back on Monday though.

Well one Friday he let me know not to bother picking him up on Monday, he was not staying at home that weekend. It wasn't unusual for him to do that. I expected to just see him at work and he would just bring the money he borrowed from me the previous week (it was about twice the usual amount, around $60).

Well, as it turns out he borrowed money from a lot more people than me the last week and didn't show up for work on Monday. He borrowed enough so that he could afford a plane ticket to fly back to Puerto Rico to move back home with the rest of his family. I'm not upset at all with him, just hope he is doing well.

I once met a guy that was down and out on his luck at a bus station. He asked for some money, but he didn't look like the type that just begs for money. He looked in a hurry, but still managed to be polite. He always looked around while we were talking. He caught an intercity bus and I never saw him again. I wonder if he managed to get away from something he was running away from and if he turned his life around.

So the covid pandemic hit and lots of people were having a tougher time than usual. Well, children all over the world started virtual learning, but from talking to friends who are teachers, I found out they had students who haven’t checked in because they had no devices in the house, or maybe there was only one device that needed to be shared amongst siblings. I decided that a way I could help would be to buy some tablets and have them dropped off to some of the teachers for their students. I also bought some others and donated to a friend’s charity for other kids. I didn’t get to meet nor make contact any of them as I donated anonymously, but I really hope the tablets were put to good use and it made a difference while they had virtual school.

well, it was at school (last day) and one of my classmates was a bit stressed so i asked her what was wrong. she explained that she needs to talk to the counselor about taking a retest because she had a medical issue on the test day. offered to do it with her, and walked her to the office and knocked on the door. after we went inside the counselor made me go out. still dont know what happened since that was the last day of school!

Several years ago there was a homeless man I would walk past every morning on my way to school. He had a beautiful dog and I would always stop and say hello and pet his dog. One day he told me his dog was pregnant and he didn't know how he was going to feed her. I gave him some money (the only time I have ever done that in my life) and told him to get food for his dog. The next day when I stopped his dog had had her puppies in the night. The man tried to give me back the change from the dog food but I told him to keep it and get himself something to eat. I never saw him again and I have often wondered what happened to him and his dog and the puppies.

I was once at a mall, and some guy approached me asking if I could help him with some money to pay for parking as someone stole his wallet. He looked decent enough, and I gave him some cash that would cover his parking ticket.

I then went to a movie, and had supper at a restaurant, and when I left, lo and behold, the same guy approaches me and ask if I can help him out with some cash as someone stole his wallet. I got upset, because I realized that he is a scammer. Security approached, took the guy in to their offices, took a statement from me as this guy was apparently hitting up various people in the mall for money.

As they searched him, it turns out he had close to R1000 on him, his takings for the evening.

I asked security if I could take back the money I gave him earlier, they said yes. I took it, and left the office. Never saw the guy again, and I wonder if he ever turned his life around.

Now this is stuff right here is what make s people that actually need help look bad people that honest. I don't like these people at all. Once I was hitchhiking we had no car I was 19 and some people like this pick me up they will go town to town and get like 400 in one day. I was disgusted but I was glad they have me a ride home. Home was long way to walk and I am a woman. It is dangerous but I had to do what I had to do to get by. An it made me sad. Very sad I'm an honest person of never do that to people.

I was once in a railway station trying to quickly explain on a pay phone that I needed help as I’d locked my car keys in my car at the station. All my keys were on here, car, house, everything, and spare was in my house. I had only 50p in my pocket to ring someone. Time was ticking away when a random man dropped a pound coin in the phone and continued walking. He glanced round and winked at me and I smiled through tears as he continued on his way.

At the time I was driving for a company that took people too their appointments, I was sitting in the vehicle waiting on the passenger too come out when another vehicle parked next to me. It was one of the nurses who worked there and she was so beautiful and so friendly looking, so for some reason I got a wild hair to write on a piece of paper (once she walked into work)" I don't know if anyone has told you today but you are very beautiful" I than put it under her wiper blade and few minutes later the passenger came out and we left.

I was 3, I was at school. A man came into the class and took me, proceeded to ask me to let him rape me I said no. He asked me to keep it a secret, never reveal his name.

I’ve kept that secret ever since that day. Every day since he was fired I wondered what happened to him. I don’t think I have to keep the secret much longer, he’s probably in jail now.
