My friend and I were walking together and she thought it would be funny to pull a "prank on me". She told me that Cody Carson did something bad. (for context, Cody Carson is a singer. He's one of my inspos and I look up to him a lot) I don't want to say what she said he did just know it was NSFW. I started to cry and she just laughed at me. She later told me it was a joke. Fast forward to the next day and I told her that what she did hurt my feelings and she just laughed and told me that it wasn't a big deal. I try to be mature and let go but somehow I'm still upset. AITA?

I think you might want to reconsider this friendship, if she finds this kind of "prank" funny and you don't, it sounds like not the healthiest kind of "friend" to have. I could be wrong, but that's how I see it. Good luck finding better people to be friends with (sincere)!

In my opinion, if you tell someone you were hurt it doesn’t matter their intentions. They should listen to you being vulnerable and advocating for your feeling. I think that laughing at someone being vulnerable is a defensive mechanism for not wanting to take accountability. Dumb joke doesn’t matter, it was sensitive for you and a good friend wouldn’t dismiss that. You are allowed to be picky. I really feel you I’ve been in your situation a lot. Often the dismissal of our feelings hurts more then the original insult ever did.

Doesn't really seem like a prank they probably just thought they were making a harmless joke.

She acted badly by mocking you but you should try to not worship celebrities in this way. They are regular humans and many will do shitty things.

Nta.
I have no clue who Cody is, but that’s beside the point. And you may be being a little too sensitive as someone else said.
All that aside, it hurts when our “friends” do something hurtful and makes us feel bad. And that is no joke. So… l don’t think this is something to stay upset over, they may not realize how seriously you would take it, but go ahead and be upset, and get over it in your own time. Then forgive.
This is usually the best way to deal with people, unless they continually try to hurt you, in that case, just cut your losses. There’s no rule anywhere that says you have to be friends with someone who intentionally tries to hurt you.
All in all.. you’re not an AH but give the benefit of the doubt and try to let it go.

Yeah, I let it go! It's less about what she said and more about how little she cares for her own friend.

So, you confessed your feelings honestly to her, and she laughs. She's definitely not being cool right now.
