Why are people so wary of spiders? Spiders are misunderstood, they eat mosquitoes, and most of them don’t bite humans. I used to be afraid of spiders but then I held one in my hand and I lost my fear of spiders, and now if I see a spider, I won’t kill it, I will give it respect. #spidersareawesome

I am a happy woman and I tend to smile at people as I walk past.
I was warned by my husband that sometimes men will take a friendly smile as much more. (smile=lets get together)
He tends to be the voice of reason so I tried not smiling at men so much. I passed this info along to a coworker who tends to attract ’stalkers’. She said it’s not her place to keep herself in check, she can smile when she wants to. It’s not her job, yadda yadda. And she’s right.
So this is a rant.
Why do WE have more dress code restrictions than men, WE need to walk together in case of bad men. WE can hardly show our bare legs without getting cat called. WE turn down a date and WE get labeled a btch.
My ten year old daughter was ‘dress coded’ for wearing a shirt with skinny straps. The horror.
A man recently told me “you’re sexy” I said thank you, my husband thinks so too…and HE got mad at ME for having an attitude. What the heck!! It’s 2023. Teach your kids that people aren’t objects.
Also if someone shoots their shot, give them an answer. Don’t ignore them. Just a ‘no thank you’ might save you from a stalker…and that really sucks.

My best friend has known me for a decent amount of time, and we have a strong friendship. Her family is… very Christian (not in a good way), so she has some different views. We used to always talk about dumb stuff like boys we liked lol, but now I’m not really sure if that’s who I am anymore. She has said some kind of homophobic things, and I’m worried that she won’t support me and I’ll lose my best friend. And it’s stressing me out because I barely know who I am, or who I like. Idk if that’s dumb or not, but thanks for listening to my rant.

That's not dumb! If you still really like them, I guess you have a choice, try to change their opinions, or move on. I really wish people wouldn't use religion to justify homophobia! Jesus told people to be accepting of anyone. It is not up to us to decide who is worthy of our love. There are plenty of religious people who are able to understand this and accept people of different genders and sexualities and I wish it wasn't the negative voices that got most air time! I guess that's my rant :) I have had to deal with a similar situation to you in the past actually. My best friend's family were exclusive brethren and while I am also Christian my beliefs have always been more open minded than her family (mostly her dad). One of our close friends was bi so I had to help to talk her through the idea that they can still be Christian and welcome as close friends. To her credit, she was never homophobic as such, she just wasn't taught much about the diverse community other than 'homosexuality is a sin' so it wasn't that hard to set her on the right path.

What’s the point of being like this when we could instead be hunter gatherers? It’s not like earth or the universe cares if we prevent war or something like that
