Tell us about your early gaming memories. Maybe it was a GameBoy and Tetris, or Wii sports, or Xbox and Halo. What games did you love and still think fondly about?

Enjoyed gaming on the original Atari 2600 at my granddads. "Combat" was a fun tank game.
My first own console was the NES. Mario 3, Bionic Commando and Double Dragon 2 were my favorites.
But it was the SNES that felt like a quantum leap at that time when I bought it. Loved it. Mario Kart, F-Zero, Starfox, Street Fighter 2 and Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Thanks for sharing your gaming nostalgia. I love Mario Kart, but I usually beat my wife (there's a sentence that can be taken wildly out of context) so we don't play that often.

Thanks for contributing to my little post, and congratulations on an awesome username. Super Mario games are always fun.

I had them all, Atari, NES, SNES, Mastersystem, Megadrive, Mega CD...

But the one that really made a difference and kickstarted my love for consoles was the Nintendo64; Specifically Mario 64, Mario Cart 64, Lylat Wars (That what we called Star Fox 64 in Europe), and Goldeneye.

The technological jump was so significant from previous consoles that I don't think we've seen an equivalent jump between generations since. And the fact that a lot of those games still look as smooth today as back then speaks volumes. That's why it the console with the most nostalgia power.

I would have been disappointed if Goldeneye did not get a mention in this thread (?) (post?) (whatever)

The first game console I had was the Phillips G7000. My mum and dad bought this sometime when I was very little (late '70s or early 80's). My brothers and I had to beg dad to plug it into the only TV in the house on some weekends. The games were basic but we had so much fun playing them. I'm pretty sure that it's in the attic at my mum's house still. The last time I tried it (perhaps 20 years ago) it still worked, although one of the joysticks was rusting and jammed.

The Wii was such a great gaming concept. I never got one, but I enjoyed playing on other people's. Thanks for sharing on my little post.

I loved Wolfenstein too. Shooting Nazis continues to be a favourite game genre :D

I got my daughter a Sega. We would play a street fighting game together. I can't remember the name but we did enjoy it.

There was another Sega game that I loved. I think it was called Columns. I can still hear the tune in my head.

Lastly there was Sonic the Hedgehog on Sega. Gosh but I loved Sonic the Hedgehog.

This is not the earliest gaming memory I have but it's one of my favorites: Chrono Trigger on the SNES. I played through that game at least 4 full times.

Thanks for contributing to my little post. Never played this game, but love hearing about nostalgia for different people.

My first console was a Sega Master System in 1987. I used to spend hours playing Alex Kidd, the Sega equivalent of Super Mario before Sonic came along.
