53 Times People Found Unbelievable Treasures In Goodwill Bins And Had To Share Them Online (New Pics)
Thrifting for clothes, home décor, and even quirky collectibles is becoming more and more popular lately. After all, it’s cheap, it’s sustainable, and it’s the perfect pushback against fast fashion. And Goodwill bins have a big hand in driving this trend.
There’s one other reason people are drawn to these bins though: the chance of finding something rare or valuable.
People have come across things like cash hidden in jacket pockets, a real Hermès scarf, and designer sunglasses. Some have even found vintage pieces like a wedding dress or a 1940s lipstick sitting at the bottom of a bin.
These finds and more have been shared on the subreddit r/GoodwillBins, where the whole experience feels more like a community treasure hunt.

1940s Lipstick At The Bottom Of A Bin ❤️
That's pretty cool, I remember the dozens of similar lipstick tubes sitting in my great-great-auntie Donna's bathroom (she was born in 1914, and she babysat my sisters and I a lot). I remember using her bathroom and touching the cold metal tubes of lipstick, and out of curiosity sometimes I'd open one, and I can still remember the smell. But yeah she must've hade 20 or so gold tubes of lipstick that were all the same bright shade of red lol, I could never tell the difference between one or the other. She served us red rose tea every afternoon with a few cookies. And she'd always lick her bony finger and get all the cookie crumbs off the counter. We thought it was a quirky "old lady" thing until I was older, and realized she lived through the depression and WWII...there are so many questions I wish I could ask her now. RIP auntie Donna

The First 10 Minutes-
I walked into our local bins in southern Oregon soon after opening, and started through the linens. After 10 minutes I had found three Pendleton blankets. I asked myself if I should just go home, because I might have used up all my luck for the day!
Have you ever been to the Pendleton factory? I found it quite fascinating.

Had To Go Digging And Found Gold
One of the "fanciest" things I own is a genuine pair of Versace sunglasses, complete with certificate of authentication. My mom picked them up at a thrift store for $50, when they retail for $500... I'm not at all a person who cares about brands (I'm wearing pj's that consist of cheap scamazon pants and a tank top I got off the clearance rack at Walmart 10+ years ago, and I drive an old Dodge truck I paid $700 for at a junkyard) but I can't deny the once in a blue moon it's sunglasses weather (in the PNW lol) and I remember that I own them, I feel pretty fancy wearing them out lol >.>

I Thought This Bins Find Was A Fake
I picked this up a while back and grabbed it just thinking it was just cool to have. I thought it was fake even when I bought it mostly because of the cut off text on the print… but I got curious so I submitted it and it actually came back authentic!! Just thought that was cool lol

After using Google Lens I realized it was a vintage armadillo purse , however , it was missing an ear, the eyes were replaced with cheap jewels and the whole bottom half was also missing. Decided to leave it but now kind of regretting it
Goodwill is consistently ranked in top 5 worst charities to donate to. Their C suite makes millions. Their job search programs are funded by taxpayer money even though their stores make millions in untaxed dollars. They have an auction website to sell the rarer, higher end goods that are donated with the hope that someone else might have something they wouldn't outside be able to afford. They auction goods off for thousands of dollars
So people are buying things for the labels, no matter how old or ugly looking? That's what I'm getting from this.
