I have been photographing the over 60s from my local community and putting them into costumes so that they look like they could be in paintings from the past.

This project was inspired by my father who has Parkinsons Disease. I am his full time carer and feel a great deal of empathy and respect for the older generation. I wanted to show that beauty exists in later years because of life experience, confidence and acceptance. I sought to demonstrate that the ageing process can be a golden one. Life can be wonderful, no matter your age.

None of my works are recreating famous artworks but more inspired by lots of different artists like Rembrandt, Vermeer and Rossetti. I have set dressed and costumed every single shoot myself, photographing in participant’s homes, gardens, even the local pub! They were then edited using only a phone app!

These will be exhibited as part of a series of 11 portraits at the Broadway Gallery, Heathcoat Street, Nottingham from Thursday 18th July till Saturday 20th July.
