A father took to social media to share a story from his and his partner’s gender reveal party that seems straight out of a soap opera.
In a viral TikTok video, Wesley shared how his mother allegedly sabotaged the special celebration, which cost a hefty $9,000.
The story begins a week before the reveal during a conversation between Wesley’s mother, Michelle, and his wife, Candace.

While Wesley and Candace live in Oklahoma, her family resides in Pennsylvania. Therefore, Candace decided to ask her sister and mother to help plan the party as a way to get them involved, and she thought getting another person on board wasn’t necessary.

However, her explanation didn’t sit well with Michelle, who bluntly replied, “That’s not what I asked.”
To avoid confrontation with her mother-in-law, Candace texted back, “But we might need help setting up on the day if you can get there at 2:30!”
Michelle unexpectedly replied by asking whether she’d get paid for assisting the mother with the event.
Taken aback by the question, Candace said, “Why would you be getting paid?”
“Because I’m not your f*** maid,” Michelle wrote.
Following the tense conversation, Candace burst into tears and showed Wesley the message exchange.
“There is a grand total of zero people who are ever going to cuss out my wife,” Wesley said on his TikTok, viewed by over 3.5 million people.

Wesley proceeded to uninvite his mother from the gender reveal party and told her never to speak to Candace like that again.
As he explained, Michelle tried to make amends by calling him on multiple occasions to ask whether she could attend the event. When Wesley stood firm in his decision, she wrote, “Okay, I have no choice then.”
During the event, however, the couple had a sudden change of heart around half an hour before the reveal: they decided to invite Wesley’s mother again so she wouldn’t miss out on the cherished family moment.
“Now, this is where stuff gets so weird,” Wesley explained during his video.

Michelle didn’t show up, so the pair decided to start the 60-second countdown to the big news. Unfortunately, they didn’t get to the announcement because the fire alarm went off at second 13, plunging the venue into darkness and making guests wet with the sprinkler system.
When the couple evacuated the building, they found Michelle sitting outside and smoking a cigarette.

Candace and Wesley then decided to approach Michelle to ask her whether she had orchestrated the chaotic scene. “No, I just got here,” she responded. “I’ve been outside smoking a cigarette.”
“But her pant legs were wet, so that means she was definitely inside the building,” the confused father continued.
“Candace thinks that she set the fire alarm off. I don’t know. If I had to guess, it does seem logical, especially considering the text she sent me beforehand and the fact that we’d been ghosting her for two months.”

Right , this sounds like a whole bunch of bull-wad. First $9k for a gender reveal? What the ...?!?! Okay, Perhaps, but still. But ... since when does pulling a fire alarm set off the sprinklers? It doesn't. The sprinklers are independent of the fire alarm. She would have had to create a flame directly under a sprinkler to set them off. And then, it would only set off the sprinklers which are affected by the heat. So, she was running around holding her cigarette lighter under all the sprinkler heads and no-one even saw her?! (Bunch-a attention seeking TikTokkers making up stories!)

This story could not be more fictional.... fire alarms do not work that way. There needs to be heat and flames to activate the sprinkler system. Also anyone who spends 9k on a "gender reveal" (really anyone who has a "gender reveal") should not be allowed to have children....
