All of us have those days where nothing goes quite right. You wake up to discover you didn’t put gas in your car or restock your coffee. You drop your phone the moment you open the door. The list goes on and on, but, fortunately, for most of us, these mistakes remain annoying, but mercifully private.

The “One Job” online community is dedicated to sharing those painful and hilarious moments where something has most definitely gone wrong. So get comfortable as you scroll through, prepare to bask in someone’s pain, upvote your favorite examples and be sure to comment your own thoughts and experiences below.

Utah, to Denver, to Boise, to Utah, but back to Boise (34 minutes earlier), to Utah. Wowsers. That package definitely broke some space/time rules.

I ordered a book from Amazon (remember when?) and it was shipped from a town about 1 hour south of me. My intention was to send it to my friend in the Detroit area upon receipt. When the shipping updates began arriving, it went to Detroit, Grand Rapids, then finally to me so I could repackage and send it to Detroit...again. It took 4 days to arrive from this little town I could have driven to in an hour, lol.

I see something like this every so often. I tend to think the package, at some point early on, was put on the wrong truck, but also took a roundabout way back to where it should have gone in the first place.

I used to watch packages of medication from the VA. They would leave Murfreeborough TN and arrive in Denver a few days later. Then To Cheyenne, Then North Dakota, then back to Denver. From there they would finally arrive at our house in about 3 days. This was not an isolated incident. Almost all of my packages from there went on a 2 week vacation!

I live in Edmonton, Canada. I once ordered a part the went to same 2 distribution centres, Michigan, then Edmonton KY, back and forth 3 times. Seems to be a US postal service thing.

Ok, I have some major questions here. For one thing, why is the item ever leaving the state when both the origin and destination are in the same state? For another, how in the ever loving monkey paws is it departing someplace it never arrived at!?

We once ordered something, thought it was taking too long. Checked the shipping and it was in Hawaii. We live in New Jersey. Somebody put it on the wrong truck. We eventually got it two weeks later than intended.

Ordered an item from a small business about 50 miles from my home. Everything was done over the phone. Whoever took the order swapped the first 2 numbers of my zip code from 92 to 29. When the item shipped they emailed me the USPS tracking number. Apparently the only number used in the USPS system to determine where the package should go is the zip code. Instead of coming to my home near Seattle, the package went to North Carolina and spent 3 weeks bouncing from a variety of USPS facilities because the zip code on the package does not exist. The last place the package arrived at was in Lincolnton so I called the post office. Told an employee about the problem and he actually found my package. He reboxed the package and overnighted it to me, I got it the next morning. The original package had 4 stickers on it stating the zip code was incorrect. No one noticed that the city on the shipping label was Auburn, Washington and finding the correct zip code would have been very easy.

I had a package do this once and unfortunately it never made it to me. It bounced from location to location until they finally declared it "missing" because the system just didn't know where to send it.

Someone broke down a couple of feet from my mailbox, so the delivery person would have to walk 3 steps to deliver the mail - no mail today! Whatever happened to "neither sleet, nor hail will prevent the delivery of the mail"? I guess since it is not weather related, it is ok?

In your instance, I would deliver your mail because it was not your fault the car broke down. But not every one would.
