Kitty on the right is a dilute calico! Basically genetically a calico, but with a recessive dilute gene, which is why the normally-black fur is gray and the normally-orange fur is cream/buff! Fun fact: gray cats are genetically black cats with a dilute gene! XD

I've just gotta say, the lid should be closed. After every use, close the lid before flushing to prevent the loo water particles from floating around your bathroom. Otherwise, they'll target the toothbrushes! Ewww! Close lid. Flush. Wash your hands. Dry your hands thoroughly. It ain't hard to do

This could be the result of either mosaicism or chimerism. It is most likely chimerism - when two separate fertilized eggs/zygotes fuse together early in mama cat's pregnancy. Ironically the two zygotes that fused to form this lovely kitty were both technically/genetically black cats - but one zygote had two copies of the dilute gene, which causes its black fur to dilute to gray! Fun fact: depending on how/where the two zygotes fused and the extent of the chimerism, the resulting chimera cat can have organs composed of cells with separate sets of chromosomes. This means that it is possible for this cat to give birth to/sire kittens that would technically be genetically its nieces/nephews and not its offspring!
