September is fully upon us, dear Pandas! There’s a bit of a chill in the air. The leaves are gently falling (though not if you live in Florida or anywhere else really warm). Cafes are rolling out their pumpkin spice-themed drinks. And for many students across the world, the month has heralded the end of our glorious summer and the start of the new school year.
What that means is a whole harvest of hilarious and relatable Tumblr posts and memes about being a student. Our team here at Bored Panda had the utmost pleasure of picking and plucking the best of the best student posts to share with all of you Readers, fresh from the farm to your screen. Whether you’re currently in school or at university or haven’t been inside a classroom in years, these are bound to make you smile. Especially if you’ve ever had to write a paper hours before the deadline (no judgment, we’ve all been there).
As you scroll down, remember to upvote your fave posts and let us know in the comments which of these made you laugh the hardest. Take out your pens and notebooks and let’s begin!

There are different words for the languages spoken in China. 中文 is kind of a catch-all for any language spoken in China. 粤语 refers specifically to Cantonese. 普通话 is often translated as Mandarin, but literally means "the common language." If the slide said 我不会说中文, then "I don't speak Chinese" would be the best translation.
My uncle ran a funeral home. Yeah, you're not doing that job if you don't understand algebra. How long before a viewing do you pull a body out of refrigerated storage so there isn't condensation on it when the family is there? How long can you hold the service while the family flies in relatives from across the country before either decomp or freezer burn sets in? You better not just guestimate that stuff.
I agree completely. We always talk about symbolism in class and I just think, "I bet if we came up to the author and asked if that was symbolism they would say it was not intended." That's what would happen to me if I wrote a story anyways.
I never checked my grades once during my AA or BA. I had a 3.91 GPA but the stress of seeing my grade was too great so I just ignored it. During my MA I finally started reading comments left by my professors and talking to them about my papers and stuff. I told one of my professors that I appreciated their advice one this or that and said how I regret not ever checking my grades before. They were shocked. They asked what I would have done if I had been failing a class and didn't know, I told him you always kind of know but if it had happened it would have only confirmed my deepest suspicion, that I screwed up and was a failure. I reassured him that I wouldn't have taken it hard because I loved to be proved right. He was so conflicted between laughing and worrying I was being serious. 100% serious. LOL.
This is the albanian flag. but is the guy on the left Tito? No, it's Albania, so it must be Enver Hoxha???
Does it count if you're utter ineptitude made the teacher cry?? I didn't like fractions as a kid.
In their defense, Merrie Melodies cartoons from the 1930s were still being shown in the 1990s, probably because licensing them for broadcast was cheap.
Chicken. We got evacuated cause some teacher nuked their chicken to charbroiled in the microwave before
My economics teacher in high school. So we had online classes. He had a bottle of corona beer, but didn't like surreptitious advertising, he PUT A MASK ON THE BOTTLE. Bc Corona...
the trick is to pick a career that you can tolerate that pays well. hardly anyone likes their job, may as well make $$$ so you can enjoy the rest of your life when you're not at work. I'm typically a pretty optimistic dude but that "do something you love and you'll never work a day in your life" crap is a lie.
And even if he did, it's behind a pay wall. Your professor won't spend any money to actually read it.
The computers at my job still have a floppy drive and can take 20 min to open a google drive link and run the powerpoint. I hate them so much
And this is why I purposely minimize homework to 3-4 assignments a semester
What I hate is journals with word limits who then have reviewers or the editor ask you to add a s**t ton of explanatory material while demanding you somehow magically stay within word count guidelines
We had a guy during exams. He wore adult diapers bc he wanted to save the toilet breaks. That's what he said! 🤢
Wikipedia is often written by non experts who don't always do a good job ( looking at YOU articles on the USSR using anti- soviet references more than 30 years out of date), but it can be a good starting point for looking for other sources by checking their references. And any college level paper should require something more in depth than any encyclopedia anyway and colleges provide database subscriptions for students to academic databases
"12 hours of homeword daily" ? 8 hours of class + 8 hours of sleep + 4 hours of basically all the little things you need to do for physical and commute resons, + 2 hours of small entertainment to not kill yourself = no more hours left for homeworks.
Work minimum wage jobs while paying back hundreds of thousands in student loans.
"Not feeling well have the day off" (didnt bother finding a sub) also had a teacher cut class like 1 hr early cause they didnt feel like getting into the next subject that day n didnt get enough sleep xD
We know that is what you do, but we do like to give you the option. It also means you have ZERO excuse for being late
No... It was becaue of the blue shell... That f*****g blue shell...
I STILL!!! have nightmares of that feeling. That feeling of inevitability that comes when you are so far behind that there's not a chance of catching up. That's when the additional work is added on and you start sinking into a pool filled w your own tears. Yeah. I still have that nightmare sometimes.
I once had the opposite happen: I did careful analysis and research and got marked down because the professor didn't agree with my opinion. And that's about when I decided that English literature was not a good path for me.
Is there a bored panda glitch that adds 1 after the end of every comment? I'm very confused lmao
I remember the day I handed it the very last assessment of my double degree in chemical engineering and chemistry, nothing could ruin my day. Imagine sun glistening in hair, bitter sweet symphony playing in the background. The air smelled sweet, butterflies and puppies and flowers. I think it was a pelican that shat on me from a great height because it nearly knocked me out cold. The hugest, sloppiest, globule hit me so hard on my shoulder and whacked me back to reality. I'll never forget that
And how many people have told you "But it's good luck"? Yeah, right 😒
