People Who Prefer Pets Over Kids Are Creating Funny Memes That Explain Their Choice
Millennials are choosing pets over kids for a ton of reasons, from cost (an average of $3085 a year to raise a dog, $12-14,000 for a child) to freedom, basic companionship and not having to wipe their butts.
While not everyone thinks that this is a good thing and sure, the two things are so vastly different that the comparison is a stretch. But after a busy day at a job that doesn't offer the same security or benefits that your parents grew accustomed to, what would you prefer to come home to? A little fluffy bundle of joy who just wants to play and cuddle, or a demanding child that needs to be cooked for, cleaned after, homework and so on?
Obvious, when you think about it! We here at Bored Panda have compiled a hilarious list of all the memes millennials are sharing to show they prefer animal babies to human ones, just in case you need further convincing. Scroll down to check them out for yourself, and let us know what you think in the comments!

Same. And before anyone starts blaming parents for not controlling their children, sometimes they just can't. Take my little brothers for example. When someone picks up a bad habit from school that they think is cool, then have fun getting it out of them. Time outs, groundings, and spankings don't seem to work either. I'm only a teen, (which in our current society means very little anyhow) but from what I see, parenthood is hell. I will NEVER willingly have a kid.
That little quote on the side to remind you that we do not deserve dogs
We're so lucky to have the choice now! In my grandmother's time, women had children. Period.
I bought a townhouse with three bed room, me and my girl have four adopted cats. its the cats house, we live there just to feed them. :-)
I wouldn't mind if the human race dies out... We've been around long enough, we've messed up big time... Might as well leave
You'll change your mind when you're 25. You'll change your mind when you're 30. You'll change your mind when you're 35. You'll change your mind when your biological clock kicks in. Well I'm 41 and haven't still changed my mind, so back off!
The best baby at the baby shower... The only one everyone's gonna love more than their own babies
Kids drop and break stuff and do not sit still when asked to... Dogs pick up whatever you ask them to and sit still like good Bois and gals... Choose wisely
Why is this even a debate? Dogs and cats and hamsters and birds and literally EVERY ANIMAL is better than humans, any time
It’s a debate because when people have kids they get Stockholm syndrome.
😄😂😄😂😄😂
LOL, I laughed so much at this, it is actually true, I'm a single mother of three and I confirm the Syndrome is real ... I sometimes hope I will get my fair share of attention and appreciation once retired and old, but then I see all those Retirement homes and I know I'm doomed to life of solitude and yearning ... is it worth it? I guess it is, at least I have somebody to bitch about, and still get to keep the cat ^-^
Best answer - because it's true.

Okay, I HAVE to draw the line at hamsters. I think that they're better as wild animals as they're rather nervous around people and can sometimes cannibalize out of stress. I know that some people have good experiences with hamsters but... If you're getting a rodent, I say, get a rat. They're pretty loving, intelligent and have much less of that "vulnerable prey" mindset.
Also, "every animal" includes stuff like tapeworms. I know when people think "animals" they think basically "mammals, birds, reptiles", but ... I hate SOME people, but I also LOVE some people, so I'm not going to throw humans as a whole under the level of ... parasites and stuff like those fish that swim in your urethra.
You think kids don't get worms? Or scabies? Or head lice?
You don't get jokes do you

Okay, so a woman at work told me her friend's "daughter died". I was like, "Oh my god. That's terrible!" Turns out, the "daughter" was a dog. Now, losing a pet can be very painful. So, consider the fact that when I really sit down and contemplate losing my son THAT hurts more than the loss of any pet I've ever lost. So, to compare the two is INCREDIBLY dismissive of what it means to lose a child. To say it hurts worse to lose a child is NOT to dismiss how much it hurts to lose a pet. But should make someone who's lost a pet very sympathetic towards who have lost a child. It is absolutely DISGUSTING to me that someone could say that losing a pet is anything like losing a child. And to say that very animal is better than EVERY human, I guess you didn't know my Dad. Go frost yourself.
Whenever I watch a movie, if the protagonist dies, I don't care... But if the protagonist's pet dies... That hurts... A lot

Animals cannot comprehend morality so the contest is not valid
Humans can comprehend morality and look at all the absolutely bonkers things we do to other people....
You are so mistaken. Study Ethology and you will be surprised. Also morality in humans is subjective, and we have committed so many atrocities in the name of various versions of morality. Also you think it's moral to make statements without having studied the subject matter?

getsu youbi We are only evil becouse we have the possibility to not be like that. There's a facebook page "Nature is Metal", i saw there a video of a pack of hyenas tear a baby antelope out of the belly of her still living mother and start to eat it, horrible scene but those hyenas are not evil, they have no choice. In the same way pets can not be good, they have no choice either, they are simply pets.
I kinda feel there's a discrimination against cats here. Or other pets for that matter! Cats are adorable too! (I'm a proud cat owner. Ok, roommate. FINE! Slave! I'm a cat slave! :D)
I prefer dogs but cat's are awesome.. I have one and I love him to bits!
Better not let the cat know you wrote that. The dog might end up in bits buried in the litter box.
Mine jumped on me tonight while I was asleep. Not because he was hungry, he'd been fed. He was just bored and I guess I looked too comfortable asleep. So he proceeded to lie down on my back. When he didn't get the reaction he expected, he walked up to my face and meowed until I was awake enough to pet him.
Mine did that too early this morning - sat on my collarbone and repeatedly bashed her little cold, wet nose into my nose for attention, purring loudly. Ahhh, cats :-)
Mine jumps on me too. Not to be fed, not to be petted, but just because she can :'D
Mine used to jump on my chest. It woke me up.
I noticed that too... Cats don't deserve all this hate... They're friggin adorable
Greetings from another cat slave. I love both cats and dogs but prefer cats (and currently have only a cat....or rather she has me,... ...oh and the neighbors cat sometimes has me too when he comes over for a visit i.e. for food and cuddles)
When the neighbor's cat comes that's his territory and you're visiting
I like dogs just fine, but I refuse to get up at dark'o'clock when it's -20C to cater to a creature with a bladder the size of a tea cup that can't find a way to pee indoors. No thank you.
I know what you mean but fortunately my terrier can hold it all night. Otherwise we have a dog flap and he can go when he wants. Admittedly less of a good idea for big dogs as you could get a human climb through... if they were feeling brave.
Well, I have a free roam rabbit. Not mentioned at all :P
I did as a child too. Fantastic pet Can be trained to use a litter like a cat.
Same. I love dogs too, but cats have my heart.
From personal experience I can tell you that dogs are like children, while cats are like roommates.
Oh there always be the side who feel discriminated by these kind of articles. Parents too.
Yeah I agree. Dogs are adorable and have beautiful personalities but they are also a handful too.
Not everyone was made to want children. Don't get me wrong - I love my nieces, nephews, and god-children... love spending time with them, and I love sending them home to their parents! I also love my dog. Don't tell the kids, but she is my favorite one. ;)
As long as your dog knows! 😉
kid's are great. when you can hand them back.
