Some people hear a fact they believe is wrong and simply cannot resist stepping in to correct it. The problem is that confidence can be a terrible substitute for actually being right, especially when the person doing the correcting has their own facts mixed up.

That awkward dynamic has produced plenty of funny moments, like innocent misunderstandings to confidently delivered corrections that quickly backfired. Online folks recently shared some of the funniest times they watched people correct someone else, only to discover that the person being corrected was right all along.

Their stories are a reminder that sometimes the best response to a correction is simply to let someone finish before deciding they need fixing.

Both Georgia (country) and Georgia (US state) are named after men named George, not women named Georgia. The country (which is not what they call it anyway) is apparently named due to the supposed popularity of Saint George in the region. The state is named after King George II, King of Great Britain.

It is a country, but it's not a sovereign independent state, and doesn't hold its own seat in the UN. It has its own parliament (the Senedd Cymru) and local government that handle domestic matters like education, health, and the environment. The central UK Government in London handles national responsibilities like defense, foreign affairs, immigration, and policing. (But just go ahead and tell the Welsh that they aren't an individual nation and culture.)
