Marriage inevitably comes with various struggles, especially if the two of you decide to have children, so being able to focus on finding a smile no matter what’s going on can be incredibly helpful. As far as why we find humor to be so attractive, Dr. Madelijn Strick says understanding a joke activates the same “reward area” of our brains that sex, drugs and chocolate do.
