Animals have been a part of Christmas since we can remember. The red-nosed Rudolph is but one example of an icon of the season. And what nativity scene would there be without a couple of donkeys, sheep, and goats?
This holiday is possibly one of the most joyful times of the year, and it wouldn’t be the same without our pets. Sure, they might have broken something while rocking around the Christmas tree, but that’s why we love them even more.
To celebrate the year coming to an end, our team at Bored Panda has selected some of the best moments of pets captured during Christmas. From battles against pine trees to meetings with Santa, these little companions are bound to make our holidays just that much more special.

Happy Holidays! My Wife Asked Me To Take Christmas Pictures Of Our Kid. Apparently, This Isn't What She Meant
I Think He Knows What His Christmas Gift Is
Although don't be surprised if after it's open, he chooses the wrapping paper over the actual bed.
Christmas is a great opportunity to share the fun, joy, and magic of the season with our pets. And maybe spoil them a little. If you’re looking for fun activities to do with your furry friends during the holidays, we’ve got you covered.
On the days leading up to the big celebration, you can consider buying or making your own advent calendar for the four-legged members of your family. Many pet shops carry them to make your companions feel included in the magical spirit. Unfortunately, they’re usually available for the most common household animals, like cats and dogs, so if you wish to surprise your bunny, guinea pig, or hedgehog, you’ll have some DIYing to do.
My Work Here Is Done
He Had Steak For Dinner For Christmas. He Couldn't Believe It
My cat does that when she sees daddy has made a cream cheese and fresh salmon bagel and she catches the sight of a second plate...she runs to sit down so politely as she knows there is fresh salmon on the plate for her. She gives me love eyeballs all the way up to an hour after her favourite treat.
Our Cat With Christmas Tree
Been there, had that done in the days when it was mainly glass ornaments that you could get.
Usually, stores at that time of the year sell empty advent calendars that you can fill with treats or toys for the specific needs of your pet. Or, if you wish, you can make them totally from scratch with just a few materials, like this one just here. You can include home-baked delicacies in there as well. Plenty of yummy recipes are posted online that cater to a wide range of animals and their diets. For example, you can try making raisin wheels from hay for bunnies or salmon sweet potato cake for cats.
Christmas Cat Photoshoot

Is that downward dog or salutation to the sun, I'm not sure what yoga pose is what
This may be the first successful method I've ever come across to get every child in the photo smiling and facing toward the camera at the same time. That's actually impressive.
Christmas Came Early At The Zoo Where My Girlfriend Works, And One Fox Couldn't Be Happier
I wanna know what they got. A do-it-yourself snowman perhaps, I'm assuming that is an arctic fox.
Something else you can do is take them on a snowy outing. Most dogs and even some cats enjoy running and playing in it. Snow angels, zoomies, or a game of fetch will surely build up that appetite before Christmas dinner. But if you live where it doesn’t snow, another option is to take them to see all the beautiful lights and decorations that your neighbors have decked out for the occasion. You might also choose to go on a fun road trip and introduce them to the white stuff falling from the sky; this way, you can make some unforgettable memories.
Paint Me Like One Of Your Christmas Trees
I'm surprised she stayed still long enough for the decorating much less the photo.
Not A Creature Was Stirring, All Through The House - Except For This Mouse Living In Our Christmas Tree, Apparently
A few years ago our cats carefully watched us placing gifts under the Christmas tree, then went outside, caught a mouse and dropped it amongst the gifts. It was still alive. We spent ages trying to track it down in the tree so we could catch and release it.
Years and years ago, my dad went out and cut down a tree on our neighbour's property (no one lived there anymore, but it used to be a Christmas tree farm, so lots of perfect trees). He somehow failed to notice the squirrel that was in the tree. Said squirrel waited until we had the tree set up and were about to put on the lights before making itself known by leaping out of the tree right at my stepmom's head. This resulted in nearly an hour of pure chaos with my parents trying to get the squirrel out of the house.
Load More Replies...That is definitely a mouse but also I would wager a pet mouse and a staged photo. In my life we have had a couple years when after bringing in the tree there was a mouse, bat, and one year even a little owl and let me tell you they don't usually show themselves until it's dark in your house and they never sit still/calmly even to groom. They are terrified. Just so everyone doesn't freak out, my family has always taken care of our unlucky passengers over the years. The bat/owl were released to shelter employees to watch them before release and the mouse we made a warm nest out of dryer lint/straw and made him a home in our wood shed. He was there for 2 years before he passed away.
The Difference Between Cats And Dogs: Dignity
Dog: "Am I adorable? I'm adorable, right?" Cat: "Not a creature will be stirring, except for me when I come to smother you in your sleep."
However, I am not sure if I have ever seen many cats that are more gorgeous than this one.
You unleashed the beast! For God sake have glare and the eyes seems ones of a chaos lord of war!!!!
Another fun activity to include your beloved animal in is to dress them up in their cutest attire. Christmas sweaters, ribbons, Santa hats, and bow ties—there are plenty of options to choose from. If you’re feeling extra, you can even get matching outfits to twin with your pet. Just make sure that they’re feeling extra comfortable wearing it.
I Couldn't Find My Cat. She Was Too Quiet
Quiet pets and kids are in a frequency that gets our immediate attention.
Pancakes Kept Getting In The Way, So He Became The Present (He Had No Complaints)
I used to wrap gifts for an elderly man who couldn't manage the task. His cat was always there willing to lend a paw. When it got to be too much, I'd put a sticky bow on his head that caused him to race out of the room giving me precious minutes to complete my work.
Odo In His Christmas Sweater. Baby, It's Cold Outside
Never thought I'd think a snake was cute and cuddly, but this little guy is ❤
And while you’re at it, make sure to snap a quick picture. Having a fun image of your pet that could be framed in your house or used as a holiday card can be a very delightful and rewarding experience. But you might have to be really patient, as not all pets are up for it. In fact, some will do anything within their power to outsmart you and run away.

Cat vs. Christmas Tree. The Cat Has Won
This is what describes a »purrfect christmas« if you were a cat, so I see nothing wrong here and please don't blame it on the cat. YOU have set up the cat's arch enemy for a public execution on the market square (living room) without any protection from their claws, so basically YOU have killed the tree and not this sweet and innocent cat. You can now start to slap your own face, if it helps...🐈⬛ 🎄 🤦🏽
This is why my ornaments are in baskets under the tree. I gave up to my little overlords
A couple of tips from Crimson Cat Studios on photographing your pets include taking some time to create a Zen environment and paying attention to what they like. Choose a place that is familiar, comfortable, and quiet, so your model feels at ease. The trickiest part might be getting your companion to pose or look straight into the camera. For this, you can try holding something interesting above it. It can be a squeaky toy, a treat, or anything else they love. There’s even a “Pooch Selfie” attachment that looks like a tennis ball and squeaks when you squeeze it.
Put Up A Christmas Tree We Encourage Our Cats To Climb
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe not a pine tree, but I want to make something like this for my cats. I think they'd love it.
Load More Replies...Naw, there is always ONE in a multi-cat household. Ours is Cara the small black and only somewhat evil girl in a group of stupid large tabby boys.
Load More Replies...I want this! Also, one of these cats isn't doing it right, the one peeking from the back. Its like that Sesame street song, LOL. "one of these cats is doing his own thing......"

Hannah Marshall, I think it’s just the lighting that makes the cat look green. At least, I hope so.
Load More Replies...Even though between 3.5 and 4.1 million dogs and cats are adopted annually in the U.S., there are still many more who spend the holidays in shelters and need some festive joy. To help them, you can take your furry friend and go shopping for necessary items on your local animal shelter’s wish list. Delivering packed baskets of treats, toys, beds, and other staples can make a world of difference.
Happy Holidays, Friends. Sending Piggy Smooches To All Of You Near And Far, No Matter What Holiday You Celebrate
Because what says "Christmas" better than a cat riding a pig in a lovely home in front of a Christmas tree?
I always wonder about the potty arrangements for these house pigs I see pics of.
I don’t know much on pigs, but the farmer who’s farm I’m staying on got 3 and they seem to have a particular spot to poop and I heard you can train the indoor pet ones really well, so I guess there would be a good toilet arrangements for them

I'm genuinely curious, not being sarcastic; Is that plastic wrap a good idea in an oven? Is this some sort of product I've never heard of, oven safe plastic?
There's a type of bag called roastabags, for exactly this purpose.
Load More Replies...I would never let my kitties touch the stove, much less sleep on it. A terrible disaster waiting to happen 😢
I wouldn't want a cat in my kitchen at all - unless it stays on the floor. Wouldn't want my dog on the counter or oven either, so why would I want that from a cat? Yikes!
Load More Replies...IDG why people allow their cats to hang out on their stove / kitchen counters. My cat is allowed on the bathroom counter because she likes to lick water out of the sink. But she knows to stay off kitchen counters, table etc. She also knows not to touch my food unless I set the bowl on the floor for her.
Besides food safety, I would be concerned about the cat jumping on a hot stove top! Many a kid has been burned by that way, and I'm not sure a cat would be much different.
Load More Replies...It a roasting bag. Keeps all that flavourful in and makes the roast very moist. Yummmmm
In Australia they're called Oven Bags. Been around for decades and work really well.
I'm curious to know why the oven is at 77°C?! That's way too cold. At minimum, 180°C to cook meat! (I usually do 180°C or 200°C - depends what the recipe says)
Christmas Tree Has Been Up For Less Than 24 Hours. Half The Ornaments Are Already Knocked Off And The Angel Doesn't Stand A Chance
Love the color scheme, though: purple, silver, and black is so striking!
We tried an artificial tree one year. Cat 6 - tree 0. Had to take it down before Christmas Eve. We then went back to a real spruce because the needles sting enough to keep the cat from climbing.

Nah, it's 60% because actually there are 5 mammals depicted in this picture...5 = 100% → 3 = 60%
I understand why the cats don't look pleased. Must be unpleasant to be held that way.

Keep playing dead Elfie. That's what you're supposed to do when attacked by a lion...Elfie??
The best purpose for Elf on a Shelf. I hate these nasty spy-things. Teaching children they'll be rewarded for good behavior rather than teaching them good behavior is wrong. It also teaches them to exhibit their bad behavior in an elf-less room.
I Tried To Take A Nice Christmas Photo Of My Cat, But She Had Other Ideas
That'll be the best Christmas photo you'll ever get of your cat. 😄
I loved taking photos and developing them, but when it comes to photographing cats, digital is the way to go. So many have to be deleted - not developed.

She Found And Opened Her Own Present While We Were Gone Without Disturbing Any Other Presents. I Don't Know If That Makes Her Naughty Or Nice
For some reason, every cat I have had in my life has, once they’re too old and fat to climb the Christmas tree, developed a penchant for laying down under it. Once we start putting presents out, they also have this thing where they will only lay down near their own present. We have more than one cat, and I have no idea how they know which present is theirs, but they still only lay down near their own. Even if I move them to the other side. Even if the presents have no catnip in them. Just weird.
My Naughty boy (K9 kid) actually stole a Christmas gift meant for a friend's kid. He neatly unwrapped the box and then took the blanket out and tried to hide it in his bed!

Was Taking Christmas Pictures Yesterday And Can’t Stop Laughing At These Ones
The entire thing took less than 40 minutes, from setting up to cleaning. Initially, he did not cooperate at all, but after a few minutes of him exploring and smelling everything we managed to take some really cute ones. This won’t be on the Christmas cards, but I’m seriously considering framing them.
This would make a great card for those of us who are forced to participate during the holidays.

Hahaha. I see what you mean about the line, and I think it may be because it's a bengal cat. Their pelts tend to stay in more solid-looking formation (if that makes sense) than the fur of other cats. Maybe like a mink.
