Animals have been a part of Christmas since we can remember. The red-nosed Rudolph is but one example of an icon of the season. And what nativity scene would there be without a couple of donkeys, sheep, and goats?

My cat does that when she sees daddy has made a cream cheese and fresh salmon bagel and she catches the sight of a second plate...she runs to sit down so politely as she knows there is fresh salmon on the plate for her. She gives me love eyeballs all the way up to an hour after her favourite treat.

Been there, had that done in the days when it was mainly glass ornaments that you could get.
Usually, stores at that time of the year sell empty advent calendars that you can fill with treats or toys for the specific needs of your pet. Or, if you wish, you can make them totally from scratch with just a few materials, like this one just here. You can include home-baked delicacies in there as well. Plenty of yummy recipes are posted online that cater to a wide range of animals and their diets. For example, you can try making raisin wheels from hay for bunnies or salmon sweet potato cake for cats.

Something else you can do is take them on a snowy outing. Most dogs and even some cats enjoy running and playing in it. Snow angels, zoomies, or a game of fetch will surely build up that appetite before Christmas dinner. But if you live where it doesn’t snow, another option is to take them to see all the beautiful lights and decorations that your neighbors have decked out for the occasion. A few years ago our cats carefully watched us placing gifts under the Christmas tree, then went outside, caught a mouse and dropped it amongst the gifts. It was still alive. We spent ages trying to track it down in the tree so we could catch and release it.

Years and years ago, my dad went out and cut down a tree on our neighbour's property (no one lived there anymore, but it used to be a Christmas tree farm, so lots of perfect trees). He somehow failed to notice the squirrel that was in the tree. Said squirrel waited until we had the tree set up and were about to put on the lights before making itself known by leaping out of the tree right at my stepmom's head. This resulted in nearly an hour of pure chaos with my parents trying to get the squirrel out of the house.

That is definitely a mouse but also I would wager a pet mouse and a staged photo. In my life we have had a couple years when after bringing in the tree there was a mouse, bat, and one year even a little owl and let me tell you they don't usually show themselves until it's dark in your house and they never sit still/calmly even to groom. They are terrified. Just so everyone doesn't freak out, my family has always taken care of our unlucky passengers over the years. The bat/owl were released to shelter employees to watch them before release and the mouse we made a warm nest out of dryer lint/straw and made him a home in our wood shed. He was there for 2 years before he passed away.

I used to wrap gifts for an elderly man who couldn't manage the task. His cat was always there willing to lend a paw. When it got to be too much, I'd put a sticky bow on his head that caused him to race out of the room giving me precious minutes to complete my work.

YOU have set up the cat's arch enemy for a public execution on the market square (living room) without any protection from their claws, so basically YOU have killed the tree and not this sweet and innocent cat. Choose a place that is familiar, comfortable, and quiet, so your model feels at ease. The trickiest part might be getting your companion to pose or look straight into the camera. For this, you can try holding something interesting above it. It can be a squeaky toy, a treat, or anything else they love. There’s even a “Pooch Selfie” attachment that looks like a tennis ball and squeaks when you squeeze it.

I don’t know much on pigs, but the farmer who’s farm I’m staying on got 3 and they seem to have a particular spot to poop and I heard you can train the indoor pet ones really well, so I guess there would be a good toilet arrangements for them

IDG why people allow their cats to hang out on their stove / kitchen counters. My cat is allowed on the bathroom counter because she likes to lick water out of the sink. But she knows to stay off kitchen counters, table etc. She also knows not to touch my food unless I set the bowl on the floor for her.

Besides food safety, I would be concerned about the cat jumping on a hot stove top! Many a kid has been burned by that way, and I'm not sure a cat would be much different.

I'm curious to know why the oven is at 77°C?! That's way too cold. At minimum, 180°C to cook meat! (I usually do 180°C or 200°C - depends what the recipe says)

We tried an artificial tree one year. Cat 6 - tree 0. Had to take it down before Christmas Eve. We then went back to a real spruce because the needles sting enough to keep the cat from climbing.

For some reason, every cat I have had in my life has, once they’re too old and fat to climb the Christmas tree, developed a penchant for laying down under it. Once we start putting presents out, they also have this thing where they will only lay down near their own present. We have more than one cat, and I have no idea how they know which present is theirs, but they still only lay down near their own. Even if I move them to the other side. Even if the presents have no catnip in them. Just weird.

Was Taking Christmas Pictures Yesterday And Can’t Stop Laughing At These Ones
The entire thing took less than 40 minutes, from setting up to cleaning. Initially, he did not cooperate at all, but after a few minutes of him exploring and smelling everything we managed to take some really cute ones. Hahaha. I see what you mean about the line, and I think it may be because it's a bengal cat. Their pelts tend to stay in more solid-looking formation (if that makes sense) than the fur of other cats. Maybe like a mink.
