Brazil is a country in South America that occupies half the continent's landmass. But you probably already knew that. As helpful as facts can be, sometimes numbers aren't enough to paint a vivid picture. So we at Bored Panda decided to introduce you to this colorful corner of the earth through visuals, more specifically, the ones we found on r/ItHadToBeBrazil.
"Sometimes Brazil hits the front page [of Reddit] for the most random reasons, but we are way more than off-duty cops, flip-flops, and soccer," its moderators write in the subreddit's introduction. "We are funny, resilient, a bit ridiculous, a lot of fun, and kind of weird, we are also tons of beauty and wholesomeness."
And all of these things are evident in the content that goes through this online community. From keeping your phone cool with a mini straw hat to policemen patrolling the streets on actual buffalos, here's all you need to see to get a basic understanding of what goes on in this unique land!

My neighbors (identical twins) rang my doorbell, holding a white cat. They said "we were going surfing and saw your cat on the next block. It was really REALLY hard to catch him. " I opened the door a little wider to show them my white cat. One twin looked at the other and said "OMG Phil, we just stole a cat!" They went back to where they got it and let it go.

Happened to me once with our black cat. Black cat came in with the dogs, didn't even look at it. Went back a few minutes later and another black cat on the porch. First one was a neighbor cat scamming a free dinner. Our cat was not pleased.

They're very territorial, and prey animals. So they can be defensive by instinct. If you have trouble getting them out of the cage, try putting a dowel (instead of hand) in for them to hop up on instead. (Or a jar for hamsters (etc) to ride in.) Most animals are fine after they're out of the cage, it's a "Hotspot" for them. Good luck 😺

This happens anywhere in the world where people vacation and get drunk. I lived and worked in Ocean City, MD for a few years. There would always be some drunk doing something stupid, like leading a make believe parade down the straight while naked as a jaybird—-or surfing a city bus. Yes, crawling on top of a bus, not sure if they do it from inside or outside, and making believe it’s a surfboard. Always some kind of boneheaded drunken stunt, and usually a VERY drunk twenty something guy, except for the naked drum major. He was in town for the Firemen’s Muster, and was a fire chief, if I’m not mistaken. Not sure if he continued to be after that stunt, though.

This is quite common here in Florida. People walk around with all kinds of birds, lizards and snakes on their shoulders. I even met a guy carrying around a baby alligator. I think it's a tropics thing...but now we have iguanas falling out of trees when the temperatures drop, and pythons invading the ecosystem.

those are fabulous. I once bought a weird shirt at a thrift store that said "pop star" and had some asian singer on it. Had it for years and one day wore it to work when our Chinese intern was there and asked why I had an Andy Lau shirt on.
