My mother does not understand sarcasm. At all. I've tried explaining that to people, but no one gets it. I remember this one time when I was a teenager and my best friend Andy was over. My mom pulled a watermelon out of the fridge to cut it up, and said something like "Hmm, I bought this a few days ago, I hope it's still good." Andy overheard her and said, very sarcastically, "Oh, no, Linda, that watermelon is rotten." My mother was like "oh! oh no!" and walked straight over to the trash can and dropped the entire watermelon into the trash. She didn't wonder how Andy, who was across the entire room and nowhere near the fridge, could have known the watermelon was bad. She didn't hear his sarcastic tone. After she threw the watermelon away, Andy looked over at me like 👁️👄👁️ and I was like "Dude, I TOLD you she doesn't get sarcasm!" XD I still remember that incident 30 years later.

To be fair, a lot of campy movies have lines that go insanely hard. You look up "Do you think God stays in heaven since He, too, lives in fear of what He's created?" thinking it's some Shakespeare quote, but nope, it's from Spy Kids.
