27-Year-Old Woman To Become First Female Ever To Visit Every Country On Earth
If someone traveled to 50 countries, we’d be impressed. If they traveled to 100 we’d be super impressed. But if they traveled to every single country in the world, and became the first documented female, youngest American, AND fastest traveler to visit all 196 countries on the planet….well, that would leave us pretty amazed indeed.
But that’s exactly what Cassandra De Pecol is doing. The 27-year-old from Connecticut has already visited 181 countries since July 2015, and with only 15 countries remaining and 40 days to go, she’s well on course to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest person to travel to all Sovereign States (plus an additional 11 countries). Her amazing journey is called Expedition196 and she’s traveling as an Ambassador for Peace on behalf of the International Institute for Peace Through Tourism. We might not be able to follow in her footsteps, but we can at least follow her inspirational journey via Instagram. Go Cassandra!

Ever wanted to travel to every country in the world?
Well that’s exactly what Cassandra De Pecol is doing!
Her amazing journey is called Expedition196
She started off in Palau back in July 2015
And she’s already visited 181 countries since then
She’s hoping to become the first documented woman to travel to all 196 countries
Cassandra only has 15 more to visit in the next 40 days
If she does it she’ll break the Guinness World Record for the fastest person to travel to all Sovereign States
She’s traveling as an Ambassador for Peace on behalf of the International Institute for Peace Through Tourism
The trip has cost almost $200,000 so far but the costs are covered by sponsors
She also uses her Instagram as a platform for advertising in exchange for free accommodation
She’s only 27 but she’s already seen more than most will see in a lifetime
From meeting lion cubs
And skiing in the mountains of Colorado
To relaxing on the beach in Kiribati
And taking in beautiful sights like this view of Mostar bridge in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Cassandra doesn’t go anywhere without her camera
And her map of course!

Share on FacebookI lost interest in the story when I saw her pictures with those poor exploited animals :/ one expects more ecological awareness and sensitivity from a "world traveler"!
Sorry to be negative, but these pictures are so stereotypical...everyone to his own preference, but for me travelling for the sake of arriving is business travel...travelling for the sake of travelling is leisure!
But she has not indicated anything else except that she is travelling to beat the record.
Load More Replies...nice feat but I totally prefer to visit the world at my pace (and not just getting off a plane, taking a picture of myself on a beach and getting on the next one)
She's 27. I'm sure she'll do a lot more traveling in her life and, when she's not trying to break speed records, she'll do so at a more leisurely pace.
Load More Replies...Surely $200,000 could have been better spent on helping to achieve 'peace' through real education projects than sending a woman about what appears to be a glorified holiday. I assume there is better information about what she is doing (somewhere!) but from these pictures which just amount to a bunch of very stereotypical selfies, she may as well just photo shopped herself into pictures!
Zoe, I was going to say something nearly the same myself. Although this is a great idea and i'm sure she's having a great time, I fail to see how the $200,000 to fund her travels is actually helping to achieve peace, when, like you said, all of the photos are like holiday pictures. I think I would feel better looking at it if she had photos of herself helping communities or something that shows she is trying to promote peace (if that can be shown in a photo).
Load More Replies...She gets sponsers because she's hot and looks like a model. None of these pictures look like they are promoting peace though. Where are the locals? These are just shameless selfies
While I am definitely envious of anyone able to travel this much, a) how is that such a great accomplishment when you don't have to worry about pesky little things like expenses and days of leave from work? and b) (as others have pointed out) somehow it seems a lot less like a noble eye-opening goal when you treat it like a checklist to complete for some arbitrary accolade.
I don't think anyone read the article. She is trying for a record. She is being sponsored for that. She's not saying she's taking a leisurely prance around the world.
Load More Replies...So not cool! She's not promoting tourism for its true worth, she's promoting tourism as a product of mass consumption!
Olivia, happiness is cool. BE HAPPY, BE OH SO HAPPY DOING WHATEVER YOU WANT DEAR and LIVE! I see a happy girl and she is confident and living just as she dreams!
Load More Replies...And then, right when she's done, they proclaim a new independent sovereign country. ♥
Daria, it's seems Hanna need reply every single post which could have some "attack" to Cassandra. It's very funny because she is complainning about people is not reading the post but she did it the same with yours (Or if she read it, she has no reading comprehension). It was a joke Hanna, just a joke. If a new country is proclaimed, Cassandra need to start again, get it?
Load More Replies...Blue eyed blonde haired. I'd splash 200,000 on her and call it sponsorship too. Funny how Guinness gives the most ridiculous awards.
Look at the "travel" map! Most places she only went to one place. One of the most ridiculous "travel" posts I've ever seen. 181 countries in 17 months is not travelling, it's just ticking boxes to get instagram photos. Look how much of Russia, China, Brazil, Australia and even New Zealand she has "travelled". I'm from NZ and by landing in Auckland does not count as travelling the country. Good on her for getting paid to do it but don't count this story as a travel story any more than a "I'm a hot blonde girl getting paid for international travel photos and setting BS records" story. PS I'm one of those people that's been to 100 countries but it took me 10 years because I worked at home and I wanted to actually travel those countries. (And I'm not hot, but I did it).
