REX AXON is the first in the world conference table made with 3D printing technology. Idea and inspiration for the design came from a neural network. This project was designed and produced due to the cooperation of two companies- Patech & WOLF.

The table has been printed in one part and has following dimensions: 4m x 1.5m x 0.75m. The fin- ishing touch was made by hand and then the table was painted in Ferrari Rosso colour. This unique bionic creation was photographed in the company of the limited edition Lamborghini Aventador.

REX AXON has been printed in FDM technology and it’s made out of PET material, which is commonly used as a construction material and bottle packaging. The name itself comes from the Latin word REX (meaning the king) and AXON – neuron.

The design referring to the neural network has also a practical application. Less material was used, in comparison to typical shapes, while the table maintained its high strength. The precur- sor of this style was Zaha Hadid, who designed the MESA – the coffee table, which was an inspi- ration for WOLF to create the REX AXON.

The production took half a year. First, it was printed on a large-size machine and then finished by PATECH Company. The scope of finishing works included smoothing the surface, resin coating which was the undercoat for varnish. After painting, the table was covered with a ceramic coat- ing in order to protect it from any scratches.

The table weighs 260 KG, it withstands 2.6 tons of pressure, which allows you to put on it not only computers, but also a car – of course, if someone would like to do that. Ferrari Rosso color was achieved thanks to cooperation with the Polish Ferrari branch.

WOLF, the table producer, specializes in providing comprehensive design, scanning and model- ing services with the help of industrial technologies. WOLF company has one the largest ma- chine parks in Europe, that allows to print in FDM, SLS and SLA technology.
