Single Dad Illustrates What It’s Like To Raise A Child, And It’ll Melt Your Heart (38 Pics)
Forgive me for the cliché, but children do grow up so fast. And parents usually document their precious moments by taking pictures or shooting video, but one single dad from Taiwan has his own method of making sure he remembers what it's like raising kids.
To capture the joys and difficulties of parenting he faces in his everyday life, Lan Shengjie (aka BLUE) is illustrating them. "I have been working as a freelance artist since 1999," BLUE told Bored Panda. "I started this cartoon drawings series right after my child was born in 2014." Recently, Sharp Point Press has even published it.
"When you have a kid, a lot of things happen unexpectedly. However, as I started drawing the surprising moments we shared as father and son, I didn't think these cute drawings would get such a hugely positive response."
BLUE said he's usually rushing through his beautiful drawings since he's always taking care of his boy. "I hope that my child can grow up in a safe and healthy environment," he added. "I worry about him becoming a hooligan or anything else that can go wrong along the way. That's why I always try to accompany him as he's growing up and help him when I can."

this terrifies me. I was carrying my baby niece like this one fine day but then it decided to storm. it's a really scary when you felt the instinct to run quickly to shelter but you don't want to shake the baby too much. I never got the courage to carry another baby anymore, I don't want to cause them any hurt.
Lol. Hopefully the museum doesn't have an audio system installed as well.
Finally. A comic series that shows the beauty and wholesomeness of having children and not those cliche ones which constantly whine and make parenting looks undesirable. This is honestly beautiful and the art is just :')
Comic?
Yes. It's a webcomic and I think he also sells the hard copy of it.
Ha my mistake
I agree with you, a father can do just as well as a mom !!!
This one doesn’t exactly whine, but it makes parenting look undesirable too. The snot sucking thing? The mind control thing? Stepping on LEGO, cleaning up messes, diaper changing, being rude to a waiter. He doesn’t paint a nice picture of it, he shows reality. The drawings are well done though!
They're done sympathetically for the dad, because ALL little children do at least some of those things, but the dad is shown as being so loving to the little one. He still adores being a parent, it's very obvious, even if it can be hard at times. The dad is shown as learning what all new parents learn about some of the things little kids do that can be momentarily awkward of painful, but you learn to live with them and, later on, laugh at them, even with the child when they grow up!
I didn't see that at mind control, I saw it as him seeing things from a new perspective meaning with a child's sense of things.
beautiful, real situations, awesome drawings & colors

I worked with kids for 20 years, and most of them had absent fathers. It's beautiful, to see a father caring so much for his child in these artworks, especially one doing it on his own.
