It’s no secret that people can be awful sometimes.

But if there’s any hope for accountability, the bare minimum is calling it out.

That’s exactly what happens in a Reddit community called Awful Everything, a place where users highlight some of the saddest, most infuriating examples of human behavior. It might not restore your faith in humanity, but it does offer a brutally honest glimpse into the world we all live in.

It’s hard to look. But somehow, you can’t stop.

Disturbing or upsetting content online can make you want to shut your laptop, toss your phone aside, and disappear under a blanket. And yet, we keep scrolling.

    There’s a reason for that.

Psychological research shows that disgusting or emotionally charged stimuli tend to grab and hold our attention more effectively than neutral ones.

I worked with a CPA that would tell any client complaining about their tax bill that we're lucky not to live in one of those socialist countries. They pay 30 or 40% of their pay in taxes to get their "free" healthcare. I added up my withholding, payroll taxes, health insurance premiums and my deductible. It was almost 50% of my salary.

But while the occasional disturbing headline or post can be manageable, the constant exposure to negativity, especially in the form of news and human failure, quickly becomes overwhelming.

    It wasn’t always like this.

Not so long ago, the average person got their daily dose of information from a newspaper or the evening news. Now, with social media, upsetting stories we never asked to see are constantly thrown into our feed, without warning and without pause.

    And it doesn’t stop there.

Many media outlets intentionally use a strategy known as “flooding the zone”—bombarding the public with so many stories (often confusing or sensationalized) that it becomes impossible to focus on any single issue.

The result? Mental fatigue, confusion, and a sense of helplessness. Instead of gaining clarity, we’re left feeling like everything is spinning out of control.

So how do we protect ourselves from the mental toll of constant bad news?

Lisa Shows, a licensed professional counselor and owner of Bright Potential Counseling in Flagstaff, Arizona, shares some ways to manage the anxiety that comes with being plugged in all the time.

The first step, and perhaps the most obvious, is to step away.

“You don’t have to stay up-to-date every moment of the day. Take breaks for as long as you need to recharge and reset your mind,” Shows advises. “This might mean taking a day off from social media or deciding not to check the news before bed. Giving yourself space from the constant news cycle can help restore your emotional balance.”

Mentioning "I'm an influencer" or pulling out camera equipment/cell phone /tablet with the intention of doing anything involving "influencer" should get the person fined (payable on the spot - fine set by the establishment and can be decided on the spot based on the level of the offense or the mood that day) removed from the property, second offense gets them removed permanently. That should take care of these idiots pretty quick.

There should be a Universal Law, that forces "Influencers" to respect the places and people where they "making content". Penalized if they disrespect or endanger the location or living beings. First the authorities look at your (actual) income, then look at your *portrayed* income ( if they show themselves driving expensive cars, showing jewelry, eating and sleeping in 5 star hotels and restaurants, etc) and fine them with a year's income (to what's highest), and mandatory removal of social media. Not a ban, but deleting their accounts.

What do you THINK happens when an unclaimed body goes for county dispo (disposition)? Sure, about 50 percent of them are simply cremated, and then after five or six years the cremains are dumped into a mass grave... but the rest of the time, they're donated to medical schools to act as cadavers for students to practice on.

So, there's 6296 passengers, and 2165 crew - so 8945 people move 12 feet per gallon - but per person, it's the equivalent of 20.32 miles per gallon. I know I'm pedantic, but how many vehicles do less than 20 mpg to get one person to work, or to shop or a road trip?

Aaaaaand i am about to get controversial here again, i am with the vietnam gouvernment here. Giving anything to begging children does in most cases change nothing about their poverty. I do believe, in fact, that being a sucessful beggar is a guarantee they are not going to school and get used to get what they want by begging. I have experienced it in phnom penh, the kids are begging everywhere in the evening in tourist areas or selling crappy Souvenirs. Then the gangleader is collecting the money and leaving a bit for the kids so they are still allowed to beg in "his" area. The only person making money is the pimp of those kids. And growing up like this is not exactly leading to a better life. It is bad for everybody except for the guy who runs the kids

"According to the report, officers on the scene interviewed Guo, who told them that she and the victim had been in a romantic relationship. After learning that she was pregnant, she said that she and the victim got into an argument as to whether or not he was the father of the child. As the argument continued, Guo allegedly admitted to stabbing the victim in the leg. “She said she was not trying to k**l him, but admitted to stabbing him because she was ‘so angry,'” police wrote in the affidavit. In a particularly grisly detail, Guo reportedly said that in addition to stabbing the victim in the leg, she also cut off his p***s."

Grubhub drivers do this, because the app/company will refund and replace the orders. However to do so they need photo proof from the drivers of the dropped order. Thus, if you get an order delivery photo like this, you take that and submit it to Grubhub, and typically within 10 to 15 minutes, you'll be refunded, and Grubhub will pay for a replacement order for you.
