Holding a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Brazil, Marcus Leoni has started studying photography in 2013 in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England, where he lived for 6 months.

The photographer made his first exhibition in Brazil in 2014 with a collection of 20 photographs entitled “Layers”. The images depict common people in everyday scenes such as eating at McDonald’s, walking down the street, having a snack on the stairs and many other activities captured by the artist’s lenses.

“His work has a visual signature which suits the English way. The picture of the boy with the football prompts us to ask a question and imagine the answer. What is the woman eating her McDonalds thinking of? Or maybe you have a different question for her. Why has the man on the stairs stopped? The questions in a way tell us a story it may be the truth, we don’t know what Marcus was thinking they were thinking. One thing is sure we will never know. The layers of these peoples lives are safe”, said Robert Norbury, photographer.
