Big Game Hunter Gets Killed By Elephant He Was Trying To Shoot, And Here’s How Internet Reacts
86Kviews
An Argentinian hunter named Jose Monzalvez was killed after being crushed by an elephant. The 46-year-old was part of a hunter group tracking an elephant herd in a private wildlife area in Namibia. One of the elephants is reported to have charged before the men could shoot, and that’s when the tragedy happened.
Relatives have been informed of the man’s death. It is known that Monzalvez had an official permit to hunt.
Still, the Internet’s reaction has been overwhelmingly negative, with many people expressing their disgust with the big game hunting. It is also worth noting it was not the first time a hunter was killed this year.

That's what he gets for going after the ladies. Since elephant herds are all Matriarchal, there are no adult males in them. Hell hath no fury like a bunch of females protecting the little ones. ;D
lol!
@blueagua not only did john use a winky sign to show he was being tongue in cheek, there's some truth to what he said. Mums fiercely protect their young, which some people find out the hard way, getting charged by the mum after approaching young animals. I am not a mum but I would do anything to protect or defend my niece from harm. I know it's all the rage to be offended by everything but i don't see any mysogyny in john's comment.
This is true lol... I once followed this hen with the chicks to take a picture of them and then hen flapped its wings at me aggressively.

Ugh, did you really have to add the whole "hell hath no fury" which is super disgusting in it's misogynistic stereotypes.
If karma does work maybe he'll come back as an elephant himself and be shot at?
this what I call "happy ending"...
The people who defend him come up with the worst excuses. Yes, he had a hunting permit but he killed an elephant. An elephant, not a deer or a boar. And even though he paid a lot of money for it... that doesn't make it right to shoot an endangered species.
He acquired a hunting permit specifically for that elephant I think. I'm not sure why it was allowed; I did think that African elephants were endangered. Maybe it was corruption. However maybe it's like with deer: sometimes with deer, an old strong male will prevent younger males from breeding, but not be able to effectively breed anymore himself. Then it becomes better for the species' continuation and the strenth of the genetics to take out the older male. Don't know much about elephants so just guessing, though.
Hayley I still find that an extremely dangerous argument to make. The conceptual equivalent would be to accept money from someone to kill an old man and justifying it by using the money to build a hospital for others. Using blood money from an evil action for good doesn't justify the evil action itself, no matter how much rich old men like to think so.
Hayley, you appear to support the argument of allowing hunting if the money goes toward conservation. The fallacy in that argument is in saying that you can pay money to do anything as long as it's ultimately used for the betterment of others. If, say, someone had offered him the chance to kick a few African children around instead as long as he pays a sum of money, is it justifiable for him to kick the children around if the money goes toward building schools for those children?
Sheralyn, I don't like that it happens. And I don't want it to look like I do. I'm just stating facts that the death of an old animal that's
Ah right. That makes sense too!
I want to add that this is very important because wildlife preservation in Africa is very underfunded.
Going to die anyway you might as well use it to save other animals
It's allowed because when you acquire a legitimate permit the money from the permits can be used to care for other animals.
Imagine if it was possible to pay to hunt a human. How would these people react?

He didn't kill it, but that was his motive.
Not a boar? So, sentient closely related mammals aren't as important to you if they what, don't measure up? I'm hoping you know how closely related pigs are to our species. Turns out pigs, are smarter than dogs. Dogs are about the = of 3 yr old humans and pigs about =4yr old human. Let's elephant! They are magnificent, that's a given. They can also be dangerous and murderous. It's rare but bulls especially can go a bit nutters around a human population. The previous comment was just right. Sometimes the dangerous or the sick are sacrificed in order to preserve the species. I don't think nature gives a good god damn about our moral and ethical hangups.
You are aware not all types of elephants are endangered right?
African elephants are.
If you kill animals for fun you are a psychopath. To see beauty and want to destroy it makes you very sick indeed! Justice served!

Yeah no that's not the definition of psychopathy.
Totally missing the point here Leni.
Not sure why your comment was down voted so much. It was a valid response.
And people need to stop using that as an insult because the stigma is one of the reasons people with actual psychopathy end up not seeking help.
