Elephant Just Killed Big Game Hunter During His Hunt In Africa
312Kviews
Theunis Botha, a well-known 51-year-old big game hunter from Johannesberg, South Africa, just had his last hunt. The man was leading a group of hunters in Gwai, Zimbabwe, when they saw a herd of breeding elephants. Sensing the danger, three of the animals stormed the hunters and Botha shot at them. What the man didn’t see was a fourth elephant coming after him from the side…
The animal lifted Botha with her trunk, so one of the other hunters shot her, causing the elephant to collapse. As she fell dead, the elephant dropped right on Botha, crushing the hunter to death.
According to Game Hounds Safaris, Botha’s company website, the man pioneered European-syle ‘Monteria hunts’ in the region. These kind of hunts use large packs of dogs to drive deer and boar towards them before opening fire on the animals. He was also known for hunting lions and leopards.
The man left a wife and five children behind. His body was taken to Hwange Colliery Hospital mortuary on Saturday.

Real shame the elephant died. More hunters should die gruesome deaths. Did I say more? I mean ALL.
The poor elephant having to spend its energy crushing people. I think the hunter deserved it.
nameme the undieing, that elephant had a life you know
I don't think you should say that about ALL hunters, like those who hunt some not endangered animals like deer and ducks that they later eat, but trophy hunters? Kill 'em all.
Markus I agree. While I couldn't imagine doing it myself, there is a difference between hunting animals to eat such as deer, quail, and ducks..,and big fame hunters. Animals killed by hunters are actually killed more humanely than those slaughtered in the food industry. And hunting is a necessary evil in some parts of the world where population explosions leads to devastating hunger and disease outbreaks among certain species.
Yeah no maybe I shouldn't say that, but I do. That someone thinks hunting and killing animals is a sport, or a hobby, or that they get any pleasure from it whatsoever is beyond me. Hunting for food is slightly better than trophy hunting of course, but totally unnecessary in most parts of this modern world.
Soheil you realize someone has to kill the chicken for you to eat it? In the US they are hung upside down in a cone type device that exposes their Nevis. Then someone slits their throats. But at least your not the one doing it.....
I wouldn't say that hunting is more humane, considering that shots can miss or hit a non-vital spot. In most developed countries, large animals are stunned before being killed, so that it's ideally painless. I don't know about fowl, personally.
So many typos and autocorrections in my post...what is "Nevis" LOL
I can't speak for wherever you live, but here in the central U.S. the regulated hunting of some game species in necessary, whitetail deer are a prime example, and in the south where wild boar populations are out of control and they are causing extensive property damage and ruining crops. I don't agree with trophy hunting or killing anything just because you can. Every deer, rabbit, or squirrel I take my family eats. I have friends who hunt waterfowl and have asked me to join them on hunts, but I don't care for duck or goose, so I choose not to hunt them. As far as the deer go, they have no natural predators left in this area as they have all been driven off long ago. There has to be a way to keep the populations in check, and hunting is the logical choice. As long as the hunter consumes what he takes, I have no problem with it. That's the way the world has worked for thousands of years. If you shoot an elephant just because you can, then you deserve for the elephant to fall on you.
Do you eat meat?
I feel awful for the elephants. Game hunters are disgusting human beings.
I agree wholeheartedly!
Even people feeding their families?

I hope the majority of these comments are sarcastic. I disagree with the senseless killing of animals, but human life should always be values above animal life. If not, then we have truly lost our humanity. This man had a family, and most likely a wife and children, and I sincerely hope they never see these comments.
Human population: 7 billion Endangered animals usually have less than 10,000 left of their kind. I think comparatively, the animals life is worth more. The fewer there are, the more valuable they are.
We are all animals, and the horrible of us are not above the other animals just because we cannot understand them or because they are not as smart as him. Human-centric thinking is a serious issue when it comes to us caring about the environment. Sure WE might be able to live if we f**k up the Earth and have to move to Mars or something, but we aren't the only things on Earth!
A life is a life Human or not To say that a humans life should always be above an animals disgusts me Therefore meaning you disgust me

And so did the endangered animals he slotrerwd
Doesn't happen nearly often enough. Hunting isn't a "sport". If hunters really want to make it a sport, put them on a large piece of fenced in land and let them hunt each other. THEN it will be a sport.
Like in the hunger games?
Yea maybe they should just do the hunger games.. not hunting animal..
Why not. I would watch it... Or not. Because who cares about humans, really...
Yeah!!! You said it all Paul, great comment. Let's see who win in a fair fight (esp since aggressor has no reason) just a piece of s**t to his misinformed ego.

They are actually doing a real hunger game, I think in Russia. It think it's called game2.
nah it would become hunger games
It would be “The Most Dangerous Game” look it up.
This reminds me of Shakespeare quote about "Turnabout being fair play". It couldn't have happened to a more deserving person either. :D
