The first game I've ever played where this behaviour is fixed to some extend is Desperados 3. If there is an enemy guard on patrol, and sometimes have a nonsense chit chat with another guard and leaves, and you kill that other guard and hide the body, the first guard, when coming back, will wonder where the other guard went to and search around. I think this type of behaviour also happens in Metal Gear Solid 5. Obviously, it still needs to be a game, so realistic behaviour can't work.
