Legendary rapper Eminem will be dropping a new album this year, according to Dr. Dre, who confirmed the news during an appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show.

The big reveal was music to the ears of Eminem fans, who have been waiting about four years for the news.

The Slim Shady rapper is currently working on what will be his 12th studio album, a successor to his Music to Be Murdered By album that was released in 2020.

“Let me tell you something. Let me explain something to you right now: Eminem is working on his own album, which is coming out this year. And I actually talked to him, and he said it [was] okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show,” Dre told the talk show host as he was flanked by artists 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg.

Dre was the mastermind behind catapulting Eminem to fame by securing him a major label contract and producing his 1998 breakout hit, “My Name Is.” Eminem’s debut album also had two other tracks produced by Dre.

Eminem, 50 Cent, and Snoop Dogg showed up to support Dr. Dre during his recent Hollywood Walk of Fame induction

“So he has an album coming out. I’ve got songs on it, and it’s fire. I’m actually gonna hear the entire album for the first time tomorrow,” said the industry heavyweight.

Dre went on to say that Eminem “holds his music close to his chest, so [he hasn’t] heard everything.”

“I haven’t even heard everything complete that I’ve done, but I’m gonna hear it, and he’s putting out an album this year.”

The music mogul said on the show that he had yet to hear Eminem’s upcoming album

“There’s things that I have to mix that I’ve done, but I get the chance to hear the album in its entirety,” he added.

Prior to his appearance on the show, Dre was busy celebrating his own personal career milestone: receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The event drew major players in the rap game, including Xzibit, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, and protégé Eminem himself, all of whom showed up to support Dre during his induction.
