Guy Asks If Other Dogs Poop In Weird Positions Like His Pooch Does, Receives 35 Pics That Answer His Question

Hoomans love their doggos, but let’s be honest, they can be nasty sometimes. Your furry boi or gal either gets all muddy after an improv session in muck or munches on some unidentified thingies on the street… you get it. Some things are better left unknown to us, and dog logic is one of them.

But when Facebook user Will Formico pointed out the fact that his puppo takes dookies in odd positions, the internet blew up. It turns out, Will’s dog isn’t the only one. People started sharing sightings of their dogs oddly squatting in do-not-disturb mode. Both explosively hilarious and utterly nasty, the pictures below document what’s likely to be a universal phenomena we yet have no explanation for.

In order to understand why so many dogs are so awkward and particular when it comes to doing their business, you’ve got to remember that elimination is dog communication. That’s why some dogs take a while to find the perfect potty spot, while others sniff around for so long it starts to annoy their owners. But in this way, dogs read messages left from other animals and get the idea of what has been happening around the area.

According to animal advocate Elisabeth Geier, some dogs develop surface preferences for pooping when they’re young. “For instance, some pups prefer soft, grassy surfaces and won’t poop on bare dirt.” Meanwhile, “Paper or potty pad trained dogs could have a hard time transitioning to natural surfaces,” she wrote in an article for The Dog People.

Elisabeth also claims that some dogs are just generally nervous and “like humans, they could have a hard time going to the bathroom in ‘public’ places.” So if your pupper needs peace and quiet to get the job done, respect his privacy. The chances are you know how it feels to be disturbed in the middle of do-not-disturb mode yourself!

And people started posting pics of their dogs being busy in similar scenarios

Ok. So. When they are puppies, dogs get stimulated by mom to poop. It might be why some dogs still feel the need to feel something against their butt to go poop. But. You can help your dog by teaching them what's ok and what's not. S******g all over objects is not ok. Not even if you clean it up. Also it gets in their fur if they have diarrhea. Not to be a "dookie"-head, but sometimes stupid is just that. Stupid. The owner that is.

They leave their marks and try to appear bigger than they are to other dogs who sniff the mark later on. Other animals do this as well.

Looks to me like they're smart. Some are leaning against things, like trees, stumps and fences -- easier to keep their balance. Others are pooping *on* things, so that the poop doesn't have that far to drop, and their legs don't get splattered. Most of the objects seem to be abandoned, or are natural objects like rocks. Their people have to/should clean it up either way, so they don't have to bend as far, either. As someone mentioned, if that's such a problem, they should pull the dogs away with their leashes -- which should be attached to harnesses, y'all, not collars.

You can usually ask a grown up dog to s**t somewhere else - at least it works with mine. I don't care how your dog poops; just you be sure to clean it up afterward! What really gets me is when the owner bags up the poop and then throws the bag into the bushes. Poop will biodegrade reasonably soon; plastic, not in your lifetime!

Well, it's nice to know I don't have such a weird after all. We used to take our two Lab mixes to the lake every day to play. and the Lab/Golden Retriever would c**p in the water right at the edge every time. I can only guess she liked being clean? She wasn't so wild about swimming mind you, just crapping at the water's edge, lol!

When we hike wooded trails, we see raccoon poop or other critter poop on rocks or other raised areas. There must be a reason these creatures are pooping “up high”. Perhaps the dogs are mimicking this habit? I know my dog often insists on urinating ON that elevated poop. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I cried from laughing so hard. Our female, who is a rescue, lifts her back leg vertically so it's at a diagonal when she pees. I don't know why she doesn't pee like the female dog she is. Another thing, and this might be due to her advancing years (she is a mid-sized dog and she is almost 9.5 years old) is that sometime she takes FOREVER to decide where to do a BM.

I don't care how your dog poops; just you be sure to clean it up afterward! What really gets me is when the owner bags up the poop and then throws the bag into the bushes. Poop will biodegrade reasonably soon; plastic, not in your lifetime!

The majority of people, do pick up, all these strange positions, are too funny, guess I have been lucky, dogs I have had,did the norm, but I will tell you, I had adopted, my second kitty, I just happened, to pass by, the kitty was, front paws on the edge, with a loose poo, smart girl did not get it on her bottom, I was impressed !!!

I love that they are either extremely proud of themselves or appear to be very embarrassed.

A lot of bad behavior going on here. The owners should be sent to a training program. For shame

The homeless in my town do the same damn thing. Id wish they'd use those "doggie" bags too.

Jumpin Jesus on a pogo stick. I'm looking at pictures of dogs pooping. This lockdown has to end soon. And the worse thing is I have 3 dogs of my own so watching them poo is nothing new.

I had a dog who would hide his head when he vomited.

When we hike wooded trails, we see raccoon poop or other critter poop on rocks or other raised areas. There must be a reason these creatures are pooping “up high”. Perhaps the dogs are mimicking this habit? I know my dog often insists on urinating ON that elevated poop. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I had a cat that wouldn’t step in her litter box to poop. She balanced all 4’s on the edge and never toppled.

I had one like that too - except he and the litter box did topple over occasionally!

I don't own a dog so I never figured out why dog st*t was always all over the sidewalks....until I watched serval dog owners jogging down our street ignoring/dragging their dog down the street while it was trying to do a #2. Idiots.

Do you think that maybe our dogs have followed us into the toilet so many times that they are trying to imitate us?

I cried from laughing so hard. Our female, who is a rescue, lifts her back leg vertically so it's at a diagonal when she pees. I don't know why she doesn't pee like the female dog she is. Another thing, and this might be due to her advancing years (she is a mid-sized dog and she is almost 9.5 years old) is that sometime she takes FOREVER to decide where to do a BM.

I had a little one who did that, balancing on her toes on one back leg - needless to say she tipped over in the process more than a few times!

why are the doggies allowed to s**t on plants, vegetable patches or in wild garlic??????? people are going to eat this s**t. i cannot understand such great stupidity.

As people usually wash all plants, vegetables, wild garlic etc before they cook and eat them, they presumably will not be eating any faeces [or s**t as you call it].

My Zoe won't poop on anything but grass. She will go out as far as possible to do her business so many times I can't even find it. We go to off-leash parks that are acres and acres big.

Bigger question here is....where were all the pick up bags? I didn't see a single person holding a bag to clean up after their pup!!!

There are no humans visible in most of these pictures, but they had to have been present to take the pictures. What makes you think they didn't also have bags, ready to pick up the poops after taking the pictures?
