I figured this out as a 7yo and still user it today. If I walk somewhere in the house at night and have to turn on the light, I close one eye while the other eye adjusts to the light. When i turn ther light off again, I open the other eye that is still adjusted to the dark, to see better.

Yes! Helps a lot because I struggle at night! I love the dark, but I can not get adjusted to it super fast! I mainly do it if I go to the bathroom or get water downstairs..

No I don’t, but it makes sense. Makes more sense than me walking in the dark with my eyes closed because I’m afraid of getting them poked out. 😂

Not exactly, but I will definitely try it! For turning the light on I just super squint alternating eyes back and forth first and it obviously helps but whenever I'm turning off a light into darkness I close my eyes beforehand and after it's out, when I open my eyes, I can see SO MUCH BETTER. I hope that makes sense. I also discovered it as a child. Thought I was the only one playing with these kind of things. Glad to know I'm not alone! 💕

The reasons pirates always had an eyepatch was for this. They didn't lose an eye, they just covered one to have better vision when they proceeded below decks where it is dark.
