Dim Vach (Dimitris Vachaviolos) is known for his musical landscapes which he likes to draw, make movies and melodic pictures of them, electro ambient journeys in and beyond the city, in the future and in the past.
The past is choosing in its very own way as the first stop, an audiovisual project that combines the contemporary music creation with the greek mythology and presents distant destinations of the greek islands.
Classical percussion instruments, electronic music, concerts, radio, recordings, sound design, audio design and multimedia are the key words for Dim Vach’s profile.
Productions on electronica, ethnic, experimental και house musical pathways, releases in division Mahayana Records, Break The Rule Records, The sound Of Everything etc., participation with original tracks in Buddha Bar (XIV, XV, XIX) collections, collaboration with Nomi Ruiz (Jessica 6), Anduze (Parov Stelar), Sugar Hous.
Dim Vach presents us the Oceanides.
“The Oceanides were sea nymphs. They were protectors of a spring, of a river, of the seas… Today, they appear in Chios and guide us to a place where time has passed, history has marked and people have became a total of memories. They follow my rhythm… In a natural unchanged landscape, where the smell of the sea is united with that of mastic and modern life. “
In his latest releases, Dim Vach shows a maturity that fends him from ephemeral current trends and leads him to beautiful dark cinematic pathways. His influences, as he states, are jazz, electronica, ethnic and the spectrum of the so-called experimental music.
“I was inspired by the Oceanides in Chios, where I’ve been the previous winter. There are intense references to fairies and nymphs, in the tradition of Chios. The track, which I decided to keep instrumental (without any voice), belongs to a general concept that aims to the promotion of greek distant areas combined with the greek mythology, through contemporary music creation”.
The video clip shooting took place on the island of Chios, in the abandoned village of Palaia Potamia and in the Chios Leper Hospital (these places are directly linked as Palaia Potamia was a village that due to its location was not seen by the sun and had a high percentage of leprosy and other diseases of that time until it was abandoned and rebuilt as a new village in other locations), Pyrgi, Managros and Agia Dynami beaches, etc.
