CR Fashion Book Releases 8 Digital Photos Of The Late Hollywood Star Marilyn Monroe, And It Makes Some Feel Uncomfortable
Like it or not, it looks like the trend of digitally resurrecting late celebrities is here to stay. One of the latest such instances is with Marilyn Monroe, where she resurfaced in last month's CR Fashion Book, China edition. In order to pull this project off, several creative and tech teams worked on it for 8 months, and produced an explosive result.
The reviews were mixed, but what the project succeeded in doing is that no one was indifferent to it. Some applauded this virtual project as beneficial, saying that it's a great way to showcase the technology, while others were left unnerved. What made most people uncomfortable is the unsettling question: "Who's going to be next in line to become a commercialized corpse? Is there no rest for the dead?" What do you think? Tell us in the comments below!

If you'll pardon the expression, Marilyn would not be caught dead in an outfit with all those ragged edges! I hope her estate is suing.
Sorry. Honestly lacks Marilyn Monroe’s soul. Feels nothing like her.
Load More Replies...I can't picture her wearing any of this junk. She had a style, and this isn't it.
Nope, not there yet. All the photos seem kinda....off. It's just not her face to me, it's like a model who resembles her.
Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. As I said on one of the pics, Marilyn would not be caught dead in any of these outfits.
I don't get it, is it just her face photoshopped on to other models? Or did they photoshop clothing on to pictures of her? /Genuine
And they took away her *body*. Why is she so weirdly thinner than she was in reality? Let her have her body, hips and all, dang it!
Marilyn was perfectly imperfect. These are like someone made a Marilyn filter with added facetuning and used a skinny model. Not Marilyn, just Marilyn inspired.
They got WAYS to go, this looks like 2005 photoshop I did freshman year
Let her rest. I think it's gross to use what basically is advanced Photoshop and a dead celebrity to advance your brand. Also, an explosive result? 8 months for tech teams to create? Like truly, it's just very well done Photoshop. I feel like most of that time was for photography and arranging clothing.
And did they pay her estate what she would have earned if she actually modelled the outfits?
I agree with Kookamunga. None of these really look like her. They are off around the mouth and chin, mostly. But some are just blatantly not her at all.
As a huge Marilyn fan, these were pretty and artistic but deeply deeply unsettling. Someone said major uncanny valley vibes and I wholeheartedly agree. It's a no for me.
8 months?? To produce this? Did NO ONE on this project notice that not one image truly looks like her?? I honestly can’t understand how this was approved and released. It’s that bad.
I'm a Marilyn fan and have wondered this. (And about other bygone celebrities) I think she would have been just as popular now as she was then.
The clothes are 1950's style and she may have worn them if they were around when she was but it still looks wrong. The faces are good but they don't quite look like MM.
