Now, I can see voice controls with the buttons as backup, because neither of those require you to take your eyes off the road (once you memorize where the buttons are, and as long as they’re big enough and not too close together). But the screen is b******t, especially for drivers with glasses, specifically bifocals. It takes a couple seconds to focus and see the damned screen, and those couple seconds could be just enough to drift into another lane or miss a curve or object in the road. Oh, and god forbid you don’t touch the screen exactly right, or you’ll end up hitting a completely wrong command. No, I prefer low tech buttons and dials, thank you.

Right?? As should the morons who told them yeah, that’s a great idea … also. It didn’t just start there.. as technology has advanced - people’s cognitive abilities have declined., and ppl have become too reliant on modernity / convenience that they’re constantly taking part in buying these new things & thinking they need all these features bc oh , they have to keep up with every dumb trend .. I also don’t like billboard ads .. it’s fine if they’re advertising to a person riding passenger but it’s still distracting if drivers are taking their eyes off the road . Honestly,side note- I wanna go back to the 50’s & SLAP whoever introduced commercials into tv programs. SLAPPPP- I say !!! Ugh. Advertising in general pisses me off. Look how intrusive it’s all become ! All of it Sucks. I may enjoy using my phone to watch a few things on YouTube but I 98% of the time use my phone as a phone & don’t care about trends, I don’t use social media, nor do I like how ppl are so dependent on it.

Touch screen interfaces were invented for air traffic controllers and were absolutely brilliant in that application. The people in line for punishment are those idiots who think that touch screen interfaces are the right way of doing everything.

Good point. You have to look at the screen instead of just identifying/feeling a button by touch. It's like f*ck the pedestrians - who actually needs them?

That message also comes up on my Mazda CX8 and it isn't a touch screen

I like mine and instead of being able to adjust a couple things with hard buttons i can adjust many more things. Also i can do it by talking.

Or when you’re approaching a curve where there are parked cars. “BRAKE!!” You stupid car, I’m driving with the curve, I’m not gonna drive into those cars. Sheesh… 🙄

I doubt it. The rungs are high enough to allow one to step over a spike strip.

Depending on the constructuon of the spikes. If just on top, I have seen situations where a person just tossed a rug over it to avoid a stabbing.

My car is a 2011 Honda, it has just the right amount of technology. It uses buttons and knobs, no touch screens. I hope it goes for another 100k miles (it has 127k on it)

I it’s all to just run with this C**p so businesses can keep up with the very technology that’s killing their business to begin with, so typical people can keep up with every stupid trend, so people will become more dependent on these things and more desensitized to either what’s in some cases , really behind a lot of them or to what can and will eventually be used to further remove peoples rights, security & privacy, as these devices more and more remove any of those things and the more people are using these modern “ conveniences “ promoted to make their lives easier, the more they’re being tracked and surveilled surreptitiously & eventually ppl can’t buy & sell goods/eat/receive medical care w/out being constantly tracked & made to use these devices that aren’t going to be for their convenience/2 make life easier , but to monitor everything they do & control every aspect of what they do.. and we’re just doing nothing but allowing that advancement .

Also , the more ppl rely on this garbage, the more they decline cognitively, as they’re not thinking for themselves, nor creating memories & they’re being dumbed down by all this modernity.. it’s not a coincidence that generation z and some millennials struggle to cope, can’t handle communication and lack necessary social skills, etc & struggle in relationships and everyday tasks, having more mental health issues and anxiety and depression. They’re all affected by the technology they’ve been essentially , raised by .. and human beings aren’t created and designed to operate being so dependent on these Things. It’s removed so much of the innate abilities ppl need and people more and more have become less able to discern and use judgment calls, they’re so heavily influenced by and dependent on every dumb trend they see of whatever moronic nonsense being promoted by whatever mindless so-called celebrity or whatever random person with a dang social media account & virtual likes. Ugh.

You rent it through an app, and you use the app to lock/unlock the car. I assume this is a security feature to prevent theft or something, but clearly not thought through. Parking garages often have no service, imagine having one of these shut down in the middle of a ramp and blocking everyone!

Probably an "anti-theft feature" that has the car shut down if it loses connection with the rental agency.

You can also use it for dates, by the distance from the base of the pole.

It's not a "design fail." They're not designed to function in floodwaters!! It's the fault of the idiot owner who didn't think to get his cars out before the flooding...
