Someone Writes Letter To Their ‘Unfriendly’ Cat Exposing Her Sweet Side To The Whole Internet

We love our cats! They become our best friends – keeping us company on the couch, playing some hunting games, keeping our feet warm on chilly nights. They know that we appreciate them, and although they act a bit aloof sometimes, they appreciate us too.

Sometimes, though, it can be difficult to express your feelings when it comes to your cat. Give them too many treats, they’ll get fat. Let them free to do whatever they want, they’ll disappear for days at a time.

So beyond a good cuddle, our cat feelings go largely unsaid. Not anymore! Reddit user skeletoorr decided to write an open letter to their ‘sly’ cat called Audrey, and it went crazy viral for its sweet and simple message.

People loved the letter and shared their own cat stories too

My cat Smudgy was a feral 4 month old when she crossed our yard one day, 10 years ago. She started as an outdoor cat we were feeding, then an indoor at night-outdoors during the day cat, and finally a strictly indoor cat (for safety reasons after she came home bleeding from open wounds after a fight with some kind of animal one day). She’s not afraid of anything, even the vacuum cleaner. A great hunter too. When she would go outside, she’d always bring us “gifts”—-to the point we started calling her a feline serial killer. Now she keeps the house clear of mice and other invaders. She’s got a big belly too, and can bite if you touch her in the wrong place or way. But she can also be the sweetest little cuddler, kisser, and purrer you’ve ever seen, and has decided to be a surrogate mama to all our other cats, the dog, and my husband and I too. She and I are the only females in the household, and have become best buds, ‘cause us girls gotta stick together. I hope she lives forever.

i feel the exact same about my rescue cat. he's scarred up from abuse and neglect, no one at the shelter wanted an older black cat, and he's the best adoption i've ever had. gentle, purry, affectionate, and the best friend a girl could ask for.

you are so right! I have a black cat too. I can confirm, they are the most sensitive, gentle and affectionate cats in the world! Thank you very much for adopting an adult black cat. unfortunately, they are the last to be adopted. Be happy with your little black panther!

We have to give our 8 yr oldkitty subq's for a failing kidney. It hurts us and him but after we're done he runs away for a few minutes then comes back to cuddle. We love him so much. You are a great cat mom. Thank you from our Sylvester

My true kitty love, Petrushka, had to be put on subq fluids for a while. In a lifetime of willingly accepting medical intervention (from me, NOT the vet)—downing pills and receiving twice-daily insulin shots—he resisted subqs like mad. I had to leave the bag hanging from the shower curtain rail so that he wouldn’t know when it was coming (so I could never warm it up to make it more “pleasant” for him). When it reached the point when I was going to have to do this three times a week, I knew our time to part had come. I had the vet give me the shots so that I could do it at home (he hated the vet, so I did it myself so that his last minutes wouldn’t be filled with rage and anxiety), my two closest friends came to breakfast and we all sat around talking and petting my big beautiful beast, and then is kissed him and did the deed. Even though they no longer live in that house, it’s a comfort to know where Petrushka (and, six months later) and Mona Filmclip are buried.

OMG, I love this so much! We have an 'Audrey', too - her name is Calliope. She was at the rescue for an entire year before I came along and noticed her beautiful, sweet face. Most people don't want special needs pets, they want kittens, or young and outgoing, playful cats. She was passed over time and time again, nobody even ASKED about her, it breaks my heart, yet I'm so glad they did because now she's with us. We love her so much. 1509928_10...bb2055.jpg 1509928_10152374704606802_509288109_n-5d21208bb2055.jpg

My cat is afraid of everyone except for me. It's amazing, since she was supposed to be a family cat, but chose me as her human. I'll forever be thankful for that!

We had a cat that started off feral, but it was 50 years ago now, so I don’t remember the circumstances of how she became ours. Our other cats would be out during the day and in the evening when it was time to come in my mother would go out the back door and call “kitty, kitty, kitty,” so by the time this cat was willing to come in the house, kitty was the only word she associated with we humans, thus it became her name. And since spaying/neutering one’s animals was uncommon at that time, she had a litter of kittens every six months (we found homes for all of them and kept a few of them for ourselves), so after a few years she became known as Momma Kitty.

If a cat weighs 20 pounds then you definitely need to get it off your chest. Of course, 2 10-pounders have the same effect and cover more territory.

This totally sounds like my Kitty. He showed up on my patio in March of 2017. When we finally decided to keep took him to the vert for shots and check-up, evidently he was chipped! So the vert called the number, and the people on the other said, we have not had a cat since November, 2016. This poor kitty was out all by himself in one of the coldest winters. For the longest time, he just came up to eat, and that was it. I too catch him creeping on me, he jump in my bed and stare at me.....It has taking two years, but I think he finally knows he is definitely part of the family. He even torments my dogs now. He is so cute Kitty-5d24...29ac80.jpg Kitty-5d24ce129ac80.jpg

My little old lady kitty, Boo, passed away last August at 21. She was a cantankerous little cat who dominated every other cat in our home, even our 18-pounder and part Maine C**n. Boo counted on me to fix whatever ailed her with a trip to the vet and pills. She was disgusted with me that I couldn't fix the bladder cancer that killed her. I miss her so much. When I was ready to adopt new friends, I set out to find a pair of black cats, Maine Coons if I could find some. I wanted cats who would socialize with visiting friends or family. You'd think that would be fairly easy because bonded pairs are difficult to place. What I ended up with are a mother/son pair who are the most skittish kitties I've ever met. My boy still sprints up the stairs and under my bed whenever I go downstairs, because he's afraid that I'm going to take him to the vet. Just last night, he laid down at my feet and let me pet him. I almost cried. They've been with us for six months and he wouldn't let me get near him when we were on the main floor. I didn't get the kitties I was searching for, but I did get the kitties who needed me.

All cats are sweet and loving deep down. After all, we created the domesticated cat and they are living creatures just like us with feelings and a need to be around others. I only wish this kitty had the kittenhood she deserved so she could fully relax around the people who love her.
