London, April, 2019: The world’s largest outdoor photography exhibition, Streets of the World, which captures street life from every corner of the globe, will be making its UK debut at Canary Wharf next month.

The story began in 2009 when Dutch photographer Jeroen Swolfs embarked on a seven-year expedition around the planet to capture the essence of 195 capital cities as part of a photography project which would later be named Streets of the World. From London’s Oxford Street to Myanmar’s Yangon river, the outdoor exhibition of 195 photo prints depicts the cultural connections shared between continents across the globe and documents a unique view of nearly every capital city on earth.

The exhibit is landing for the first time in the UK at Canary Wharf, after a successful pop-up in Denmark and stunning exhibitions in Amsterdam and Dubai. Visitors to Streets of the World will be urged to forget borders and travel through the continents to discover a different, yet relatable view into the lives of other nations. For an interactive experience, visitors can scan a QR code placed at Westferry Circus to view a video walk-through of the photographs, presented by Jeroen himself.

To complement the exhibition, street food market ‘Eats of the World’ will be serving up tantalising dishes in Montgomery Square, Canary Wharf, on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd of May from 11am till 3pm. The market will offer gourmet goodies from across the globe reflecting many of the destinations featured in the photography, including soul-satisfying burritos from Mexico, flavour-filled falafel from Lebanon and appetising arepas from Venezuela.

Jeroen Swolfs, photojournalist and creator of Streets of the World, says: “My ambition for this project was always to show the connections that bind us together as people. For me, streets of capital cities were a great way to do this and I am incredibly excited for the exhibition’s UK debut to be displayed at Canary Wharf where such a wide array of people from many different cultures will be able to experience my journey.”

Lucie Moore, Head of Arts and Events, Canary Wharf Group says: – “We are thrilled to be hosting the UK debut of the captivating Streets of the World exhibition at Canary Wharf. Frame to frame, these photographs take you on an emotive journey; from Beijing to Baghdad you truly begin to recognise the resemblances between human relationships across the globe. Canary Wharf is one of the most diverse areas in London so it’s a fitting destination for the UK premier of this exciting visual story.”
