I think it's ethical using animals for food. But we have to give them a good and happy life and a fast and painfree death. That's the only logical thing to do... they sacrifice their lifes for us, we need to treat them with respect.

I agree. But even if we exclude ethics and only look for profit, these farmers should know it's a loss to kill a pregnant animal. I mean, new cattle - new income, no?

Well, the question is whether you will be willing to pay about USD 7 (or EUR 7) for the amount of meat of a single burger patty, and about 15 for a steak. This is a realistic price for organic, animal-friendly farming. I am afraid most people are not willing to, although hardly anyone does not condemn mistreatment of animals.

I totally agree with you. Even if you are going to kill them at least have some empathy until they are alive.

Riz, I agree - have you read The Secret Life of Cows by Rosamund Young? They’re really complex, family oriented animals, totally amazing.

Why does this get downvotes? I agree, we can read, look, talk - we DO have a choice. Animals don't. The easiest choice is eating at least less and better meat. No one in the first world can claim not to have that choice.

I love animals so I don't eat them or anything that comes from them. It is that simple.

Or simply be more conscious of where the meat you eat comes from and how the animal was treated. If you think 2% of a population going vegan is going to make a difference, then you're in for a surprise
