This is an ongoing project which interprets consumer culture and unending development in urban centers: products/materials consumed and accumulated, structures built and then left to decay, self-identity lost in the process.
Heavily textured acrylic layers, line work and dense photo collage elements reflect both the intensity of these environments and the experience of some living in them.
Peter Espinosa works primarily in acrylic and mixed media on canvas, exploring themes of urban development, chaos and identity. His pieces are often defined by their gritty, dense layered composition- using acrylic, graphite, pigment pen and sometimes photo collage. He enjoys playing with repetition, industrial elements and the surreal in much of his mixed media pieces.
