30 Times Construction Workers Tried To Cut Corners But Things Took A Turn For The Worse
Many construction roles are physically demanding which is why it is considered hard work. Every day requires lifting heavy materials and operating dangerous tools while maintaining attention to detail and following a tight schedule. Not to mention all the early mornings and late nights!
So to make it a bit easier for themselves, some workers cut corners. However, that often involves taking up more risk. And the Instagram account 'Construction Fails' is here to remind everyone that there's a limit to how far you can push these boundaries.

There has to be an anchor point under those sandbags... the sandbags are just there to protect the structure and offer stability... right???? This is what I'm telling myself 😬

I Got You Bob
To be honest: nothing you can do on an official job site, but for home improvement, this isn't too bad. Just guesstimating, using my index finger as a ruler, I'd say black shirt guy has to hold about 20% of white shirt guy's weight by pure leverage. White shirt guy ain't the bulkiest, let's say (and that's a stretch) 80 kg, plus the ladder weighing 10kg of which Black Shirt has to hold roundabout 50%. That makes roughly 20kg. So that's a crate of beer. For any movement White Shirt makes, Black Shirt only has to compensate for about 20% as well, the rest is going to go into the ground without any effect. This makes it way more stable for Black Shirt, as he's got way less load, and way more stable for White Shirt, cause Black Shirt won't jiggle as much (and even if he does, the leverage will compensate). I mean, it'd STILL be a better idea to get a specialised ladder, yadda yadda yaddy, but be honest: for that ONE LIGHTBULB you need to put in, would YOU rent that?

Quikrete is designed to work this way. One of the things it notes on the bag, is that you can do this, soak the bag, and when it hardens you get a kind of block.
Bob Getting Creative With The Crane Setup

The only thing wrong with this is a lack of understanding as to what is going on. You can clearly see that that road has been cut to make way for a different kerb/pavement layout, as there is black infill that doesn't have road markings on it. The crossing markings have yet to be burnt off and remarked in their new positions.

At an old job building & repairing schools, we got a complaint of bad smells a few months after installing a semi-permanent trailer. Inspection shows the new sewer pipes were properly done, except for a section of about 2 feet that had no pipe at all, but had been carefully wrapped in insulation (along w/the rest of the piping). My boss sent a letter w/kudos to the insulation manufacturer because the material worked, by itself, for almost 6 months. The letter to the installing contractors did not include kudos.
