Reddit Post About Person Being Raped While On Military Duty And Getting Revenge Has The Internet Conflicted
Studies have shown that over the last 10 years the number of sexual assaults in the military has decreased. However, in 2017 there were 6,769 reported cases of sexual assault in the US military, which shows that it still is a devasting problem that must be solved.
Recently a heartbreaking story showed up on Reddit where, presumably, a man told his story about being sexually assaulted while on military service. He claimed that the military failed to take his report seriously and instead ‘kicked’ him out of service. This post, which was later deleted by the original poster, received a lot of attention. While some people began to fact-check the credibility of this story and tried to disprove it, others, despite not being sure if the original story was real or not, claimed that, unfortunately, stories similar like this one does happen in the military. Share on FacebookI don't know enough about the military to comment on how they handle things. I have read about cover ups. I think all I feel comfortable saying here is that I feel deep sympathy for those who have been hurt. I hope that they get all the help they need and are able to go on and lead happy lives. Those people causing such terrible harm and misery and those that allow it or don't deal with it when it's brought to their attention? I sincerely hope they don't get away with it - that the truth comes to light and they are punished appropriately.
Umm wow... yes you can get discharged from the military fro REPORTING your rape especially if it is against a senior officer. Happens all the f*****g time to female service members and the rapist senior officers get no punishment and no investigation. It's an old boys club big time. After the report of a rape is made the victim gets a target on the back and the military will find any little reason to kick the "troublemaker" out. Rapes are NEVER investigated when it's a senior member accused. These are facts. Any of these deniers are ones who perpetuate the culture.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if this happened exactly the way he said it did. I grew up in a city with four military bases, young men and women got raped all the time - and they had NO recourse. If they reported it, they were either tortured until they quit or were kicked out for some b******t reason. ...///... I am not connected to the military in any way, but I have to say that I fully understand what this man went through. I found out that the man who raped and tried to kill me wrapped his best friend's car around a bridge abutment when he was drunk about a year and a half after the attack. Some of his buddies were collecting to send a wreath to his funeral. I sent one of my own, anonymously. Dead roses.
