Even Chris Evans seemingly cannot escape from the pressures of looking perpetually young
A recent post on X shared side-by-side images of Chris Evans, claiming his nose had been refined and his hairline had been filled out using digital editing.
“Post-production nose job and hair transplant is f***ing crazy bro, Hollywood is a disease,” one wrote while sharing the alleged post-production edits.
It is believed the snaps came from a promotional video of the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday.
The film’s trailer was released in July, while a promotional clip was released over the weekend.
The speculated changes to the actor’s face have prompted fans to question why such extensive alterations were necessary in the first place.
“The pressure to look 25 forever is dystopian.”
“I keep saying….it’s that Gosling look. Botox, filler, etc,” said another.
One asked, “Why are they wasting money on such things?”
Fans accused Hollywood of going overboard with digital editing
“B**ch a** franchise can’t even stand by their actors,” said another.
“How much is this budget, bro? It’s gonna be like 500 mill just for production,” one said.
Others pointed claimed there were changes beyond his nose and hairline, saying: “The neck and cheeks changed too.”
The claims about Evans’ appearance remain unverified, and the images alone do not establish whether any digital modifications were made.
“Is it just me, or did they change Chris Evans’s nose and hairline?” one asked online
Evans’ appearance was thrown into the spotlight as the actor makes his big return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, in Avengers: Doomsday.
Directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, the upcoming film will bring together characters from across multiple Marvel franchises, including the original Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and the New Avengers.
Robert Downey Jr. is portraying the villain Doctor Doom, while actors Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm), and Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova) will also be sharing the screen.
Evans last played Steve Rogers in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
He had stepped away from his role as Captain America after passing the shield to character Sam Wilson (played by Anthony Mackie), who eventually became the new Captain America.
Evans’ character, meanwhile, time-traveled to the past to be with his longtime love, Peggy Carter (played by Hayley Atwell).
The Marvel hero revealed why he turned down several pitches before returning as Captain America this time
In July, Evans explained that he had turned down numerous pitches to reprise the role before finally agreeing to return.
He recalled a conversation he had with Marvel’s top names Lou D’Esposito and Kevin Feige.
“When we finished Endgame in 2018, Lou and Kevin took me to dinner, and they were like, ‘We’d love to keep doing movies with Steve Rogers as Nomad,’” Evans told Entertainment Weekly in July, referring to one of Captain America’s alternate identities. “And I said, ‘Okay, well, what do you got?’”
When he heard their “pitch” on how to continue the story, he said it “didn’t feel right” at the time.
“Over the course of eight years, I probably heard at least a dozen pitches,” added the Marvel hero.
“And they were all wonderful. It just never quite felt right. And you do start thinking maybe that’s the expiration — whatever it is — maybe it’s not right because it’s just not right,” he continued.
It took a familiar face from the Marvel universe to make him finally change his mind.
“I got a phone call from my team saying there’s a rumor [Robert Downey Jr. is] talking to Marvel, and I was like, ‘Uh, oh. What does this mean?’” said the Hollywood hearthrob.
Eventually, he felt things change “all of a sudden” after being given a pitch and receiving confirmation that his longtime co-star Downey was back, too.
“It was like, ‘This is it,’” he added.
The much-awaited Avengers: Doomsday will hit the big screen on December 18.
